Looking for any general info on Unit 43. I drew a tag for a third rifle hunt Nov 5-11th and am having a hard time finding much info on it...Any ideas out there? Anybody ever hunted in the area.

Thanks in advance

Just bringing this post back up to the top. Units 43 47 and 471. I've found info on the early hunts, but am having a hard time finding much regarding the later november hunt. Any info appreciated

Thanks

I believe the concensus is that there is a lot more public land to hunt in the early seasons than there is in the late season. Most of the lower country is private and access is very slim.

I agree with dslaughter. The public land the bucks will be found on 3rd and 4th rifle are hard to hunt because it is so thick with oak. 47 has a lot of private along the noth boundary but the further east you head there is access to public land. Depending on weather you may be able to get into the higher country and find deer. 471 is high altitude and it snows early up there. Again the deer will stage on private land in that unit is well. Make no mistake though you will be getting into deer and should have a fun hunt. Hunt hard. Good luck !

Thanks for the info guys, its nice to know that there are people in this forum who are willing to give out some good info. I'll be waiting for my turn to help somebody else in the future.

I have run into basically the same information. I'm hoping that we will be able to catch some deer higher up before they move down towards private land. This weekends weather pattern might screw that up though. It looks like the high country is going to get the snow.

InterpolNY, If the deer are low, is there enough public land to even access that is huntable?...or should we only hope for a chance at higher ground? Any thoughts.
