I am curious to know if Mule Deer and Whitetail deer inter breed, and what the end result is for bucks and the racks. does anyone have any pics of what the racks would look like?

Yes, they will. Typically it is a whitetail buck breeding a muley doe as the whiteys are more aggressive than the more timid mule deer buck. Rack's may or may not be effected. You may see a muley looking deer with a wide whitetail type rack (main beam w/ points coming off)

My understanding is that these "hybrids" get the worst of both worlds in that they are not as cagey as a whitetail and they loose their ability to "stot" like muleys (you know, that pogo stick looking way mule deer run) which makes them more suseptable to predators.

Seen a few racks but no pics.

Several Years ago I saw a Utah killed white tail on the green river near browns park. They guy was driving around trying to find a fish cop to show it to.

nice 8 point in whitetail terms. : )

really. I remember hearing a couple years ago that the first whitetail in utah was taken in the northern part of the state.

On opening day of the Montana rifle season I saw a herd of muley does with a whitetail doe. Im certain she was a purebred but Its a muley/whitetail cross waiting to happen. My hypothisis is she was orphaned as a yearling and joined up with the muleys as there are more muleys in this area. Usally it is the whitetail buck breeding mule deer does, but it happens the other way around too. They are more succeptible to preditors and may or may not be sterile. Ive see alot of people claiming to have shot a hybid deer based on the fact that its rack looks like a whitetail. Look at the body, not the rack. A hybrid will look alot like a coastal blacktail.

There are a few whitetails in Utah already, especialy in the bear river bottoms in the Logan area, every year a few are spotted up at Tony Grove ( what they are doing at 9000 ft I don't know...)and this year one was road killed by the 31st street exit on I15 in Ogden ( running the Weber river bottoms I guess). I myself have only seen 2 and they were up by Whitepine lake, I guess no one is brave enough to shoot one and post a pic yet.

Quite a few years back my dad killed a buck here in Ut. that the F.and G. figured was a half muley half whitetail. His horns looked like a whitetail and his body and head resembled a muley. F.& G. took the horns and head and we never heard anything back from them....
