Are you planning to hike into the wilderness or hunting the foothills?
You might consider staying a little closer at a motel in Baker or the state line. Especially if your hunting Moriah from the east side.
On the west side, the road gets close to the top by going up Marble Wash road I think its called. But you probably won't need to go all the way up to see deer. In October, we've found them at 7-8k feet west of Moriah Peak.
