Does anyone have any experience hunting with these guys? They have great photos and hunt some good areas? Do they consistently produce the larger Bucks? I'm considering an outfitted hunt in the near future, as scouting time is becoming more limited.

So what are you saying Justin, nothing is guaranteed, does that mean that I should be realistic about my expectations, and that though I may pay $7800 the only real expectation I should have is some good cookin, and some beautiful scenery. I hear all that, but what I really want to know is of the outfitters that consistenely produce the hogs are bucks and bulls in the top 5-10 ie are the chances better of getting a 200 buck with B and B or with someone else?

They hunt prime country, in my opinion thats all a guy can ask for. You need to put yourself in a position to get lucky and if a 200" deer or better is what you are after then you have to hunt where they live. That does not mean you will harvest one, much less even see one but there is that possibility that you will find what you are looking for. If a 200" deer were guaranteed anywhere it would be a penned hunt and be a helluva lot more expensive. Good luck in your search.

I think Tooele has got more money than brains.

Go buy your deer, it don't make you a mighty hunter in my book.

I'm just leaving for Saskatoon. When I get back all of the Utah outfitters will be done with there Nov trophy hunts, I will email you a few suggestion and averages for 2005

Elkantlers,

obviously your somewhat of an #####, but that is ok, FYI, this year I spent 18 days in the field hunting in wyoming and Utah on my own, I spent around 50 days actually scouting, I saw 19 bucks that would score from 150-200, I did not shoot any of them as I am after the elusive 200+ deer. Unfortunately, it is not alway easy to harvest one. I know that unless I get really lucky, if I don't put the time in I will not harvest this type of animal. If my job dictates that I now have to work instead of scout, but I make extra money, I am willing to pay someone to do the scouting, because I don't want to harvest a 3 year 4 point or probably a forky like yourself. I know I have paid my dues in hours, hiking time etc. I don't even own a 4 wheeler as I spend all of my time hiking or on horseback. This year hunting I hunted exclusively from back pack, and let me tell you 18 days of dry pack food certainly isn't a picnic.

What, do you shoot at every deer you see? Give me a break there is a big difference between seeing a deer and getting a shot.

Give the guy a break.

It sounds to me like someone might be a bit jealous. There is nothing wrong with a guided hunt or using an outfitter. There is also nothing wrong with hunting public land alone. Why cant Elkantlers answer a question without being an arrogant purist A

Elk Antlers,

I was very tempted at the 1 buck I saw nearing 200, but definitely not over 200, unfortunately I didn't get any closer than 600 yards, and I don't shoot quite as well as the boys on the beyond belief video. But no Elk Antlers, I do prefer not to shoot a buck anymore unless it is that big.

T-

Good for you. I see nothing wrong with outfitted hunts myself.

Elk Antlers--
For me, I was an active duty army captain for 5 years....went to Bosnia and Iraq and now I am a production manager for General Mills working 80+ hours a week.....and oh by the way, have two kids (one has cerebal palsy) and a 3 month old son. Some guys like myself, do not have a ton of hours to do the scouting but we love to hunt. Shooting a trophy deer on an outfitted hunt is just as great--OR EQUAL-- as doin' it yourself. We shouldn't point fingers at guys that want to pay money to go after big bucks. If I didn't have the family commitments like I do, I'd spend 40 days in the field. But, I can't because of my responsibilities and I wouldn't be married anymore.

Back to the original ?
I drew a CWMU buck permit on one of there leases & they were decent with me, they did come off a wee bit arrogant but that can be understood since I was a public hunter, they do very well, but have since lost the lease I drew (ensign) I think you will do well with them.

What areas do Buck and Bulls hunt? They hunt more than one don't they? Is one better than the rest? If I book with them should I ask for a certain area? Thanks.
Todd

Tooele,
I met one of the Bucks and bulls subguides this year through a friend. The guys name is Trevor Gilman. He's one of the hardest working guides I've ever met. He's also a very good guy and is very honest in my opinion on what a hunters expectations should be. I'm not sure of the units or property they hunt but I met Trevor on a public unit and I thought he was well prepared. fstop

if I'm not mistaken the outfit is owned by kim bonette..?... he was in kirt Darners book "how to find giant bucks" so kims been around a while, I didn't realize they charge that much, but he'd be a good bet....

Bobcat that is a sweat website, I'm just disappointed that I didn't come accross it sooner in my hunting career.

It is, Kim Bonnet and Jeff Warren. I have met Jeff in the airport in Hermosillo and have talked with him a couple of times on the phone, he is a great guy.

I hunted on some private land up Lost Ck. that was under the Bucks and Bulls lease (borders Deseret) --Nice animals and pretty tame. The access is watched, hence the large #'s and bigger critters...we couldn't head to camp (I was hunting w/the landowner) w/out being accosted by guides and rangeriders checking to see if we were supposed to be in there. Plenty of "watchers" on the skyline too. Annoying.

B&B is in the business of big critters and is pretty protective of their turf. A 200 B&C buck is pretty ambitious, even for them and the pressure is "on" for them to produce racks in league with what they charge. I knew a former guide of theirs (quit around '00 or so) who felt that they were promising a bit more than they were actually able to produce...i.e.; a few more clients per year--pushing the quality/quantity envelope a bit too agressively. Take that w/a grain of salt.

If I had the money to blow on a guided B&C class M.D. hunt --- I'd go with them, tho...but it may take more than one season with access to that kind of property and guided support to realize a 200-incher...

I guess you gotta decide whether this whale is worth your Ahab...

I worked for them last year and it was a lot of fun, and I got to see some awsome country. They have some areas that are better than others. Give Kim or Jeff a call and they'll be straight up with you. One thing that really impressed me is that I was guiding a public hunter. I asked if I should stear clear of the best animals, and they told me "No way, you help your hunter kill the best animal you can find." I thought that showed some real class. Good luck Toole.
