Kaibab report

Lots of hunters. But no one seems to get off there 4 wheeler or out of the truck from what I saw. I still hunted the higher elevations and took this 5x4 in the rain opening morning he grosses 182 my buddy the following day near the same area took a nice 4x4 that scored 153. After opening weekend game and fish at the check station said the widest buck killed was 24 1/2 inches and mine was in the top 3 killed. We saw a alot of camps with nothing and the camps we did see with bucks were forks. We personally only saw 4, 4 pointers that had been killed and they were all smaller than my buddys buck. With out snow it can be tough finding those monsters. Good luck to you it should be a great hunt some deer as of monday were seen heading down out of the timber into the burns into the start of winter range.

We had twelve tags in our camp, and only filled three the first weekend hunting the west side. A lot of the hunters in our camp have high standards, and decent bucks are being passed up. Our camp shot two small 3X4's and a twenty-nine inch 5X6. The buck was aged at three years old at the check station and scored 160.
I'll be heading back up this Thursday to see if I can find a good one.

Tough hunt this year, warm and no snow. We hunted at 8200 feet and found some good deer. We killed four deer on the opener, even in the all day rain. It really put some moisture on the ground which is always good to see on the Kaibab. Fun hunt, lots of deer like always on the Kaibab. The deer started to move off the tops after opening weekend and the does have started to bunch up a little bit. Sure could use some cold weather and some snow for the late hunt. Spending Thanksgiving on the Kaibab again, no place better, been lucky enough to do this 5 of the past 6 years.
