Looks like I'm going to hunt muleys during the rut after all. I am leaving the 14th and will br there tell the 21st.

Just called Montana F&G and bought a leftover non res big game combo. I had my name on the Alternate list and I looked today and they have a message saying they have some permits and it's first come first serve. After I bought mine I asked the lady and she said they had 15 combo tags left. So if you want a combo tag and your name is already on the list call fast.

Anyone know if the rut is heating up yet in central Montana.

They should be rutting by the time you get up here. Id say they are in pre-rut phase right now. Where in central Montana will you be hunting? Congrats on getting a leftover tag!

I will be hunting east of Lewistown and a little west of Wennitt (sp?). Someplace in there.

They are going super strong here. I watched a big boy chasin and fighten hard today, wished I could have shot him but he is in a draw only area. Did get some good video of him though. Have fun, we got some pretty good horn growth this year because of all the rain.

You have to go to breakfast in Winnett. It's homemade.
She slops butter on the grill for the potatoe's and cooks the eggs just the way you like 'em.
Coming from Washington we spend the first night in Lewistown and get up early to eat in Winnett on our way to Jordan.
I'm leaving Wed. the 9th for 10 days of rut hunting!!
It will be prime by the time you get there.
