That is a fantastic buck! Corn fed Nebraska muley for sure.

Congrats to your buddy on a fantastic buck! Not to take anything away from a great buck, but from the shape of the rack it almost looks like it could have some whitetail genetics.

Oak took the words out of my mouth. Looks like he wanted to be a whitey on the left side. He is a good one at any rate. Good job.

Great looking Buck no doubt at all and should be some good eating meat too. Thanks for posting the picture.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-13-05 AT 01:09AM (MST)[p]I'll pass along the congrats.....fact is this was in the prairie area (sage flats/evergreen canyons)of the southern panhandle......not a cornfield within 40 miles ......a couple alfalfa circles kept him pretty happy though!!! I asked the same thing about whitetail genetics and the landowner said he's never seen a whitetail on the property in 35 years...but who knows?? When he checked him at the check station the warden told him it was a nice 170-180 deer.....HA! I was being conservative on the measurements when I got the 213 score.......His net non-typical score was around 203......G3s hurt him pretty bad.....Want to know the REALLY good news??? I get to bowhunt the property next year!!!!

Nice buck for sure, but just doesn't look like a 200" deer
i'd bet closer to 180 gross, just doesn't have the deep forks but 27"/28" main beams are outstanding! Congrats.

I agree..GREAT buck..maybe a 165 frame and a 14-15 inch inline...180ish gross.

gil,

This is one of those "who cares what it scores!" That is a damn good buck and I am taking him even if the tape says 114".

Thanks for sharing. I do not see how anyone can score him with the beam poking out of the computer screen right into the office.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-13-05 AT 11:56AM (MST)[p]Give me a break fellas....I put the tape to him myself.....

Here's the scoring break down for you scoring gurus....

Main Beam= 27 6/8 & 25 6/8
G1= 4 7/8 & 4 6/8
G2= 14 1/8 & 15 5/8
G3= 9 1/8 & 5 4/8
G4= 10 6/8 & 8 5/8
H1= 6 2/8 & 6 0/8
H2= 4 6/8 & 4 6/8
H3= 4 1/8 & 4 1/8
H4= 5 0/8 & 5 1/8
Inside spread=29 7/8 (credit 27 6/8)
Abnormal points= 3 1/8 & 13 7/8 & 1 4/8

Grand Total Gross Score= 213 2/8

You guys realize with just main beams, inside spread and circumference measurements he scores over 121"......that's BEFORE you add ANY point scores.....

Gil,

Tell your buddy he took a dandy! The buck I shot this year grossed 180" and your buddies buck is a far sight better than mine. I think your numbers are accurate.

Thats an awesome buck! Love the huge sticker.

When in doubt, floor it.

Diplomacy is the art of saying "nice doggy" until you find a big stick.

Congrats. Two questions. Are you sure those H-1's are over 6 inches? And, is it possible that this buck nets 304 and not 204? Nice! Way to go.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-14-05 AT 08:31AM (MST)[p]Uh....H1 is a circumference measurement....I think you're talking about G1 which are 4"....This place is unbelievable....Why the smarta$$ comments?

Fellas, I know how to score deer....no matter how I tried, the steel cable wouldn't stretch....the measurements are what they are.....I have no reason or want to over-exagerate this deer....I just thought you all might want to know what it scores since that is usually one of the first questions asked.....won't make that mistake again....

Hawk33,
I'm sure as hell going to try because I won't hear the end of it until I do!!!!
