are the elk being vocal yet

I was out last weekend in the NE Region elk/deer hunting and did not hear any elk being vocal yet (not even cows). I called in two spikes using cow calls but they never did call back. Just wondering if anybody has heard any elk being vocal yet? And is anybody having any luck calling them in?

I heard a few weak bugles last week end but I never tried calling them in. My season was not open yet. September 1 and I might give it a try.

They have been talking most of this week in N. Utah where im hunting.

Yesterday the elk were very vocal. Lots of cow talk, spike bugles and the big boys were even bugling about every 5-15 minutes. Certainly not aggressive, but rubbing horns and pushing cows.

I do not know if this counts but I know that the elk behind the High fence are talking a lot in the A.M
