These aren't monsters by any means, but what I got today. I drove on dicey roads for about 5 hours, the looked for deer. I hadn't seen one, where I normally see hundreds. I then ran into buck number one, and within 15 minutes, and about 100 yards, three nice four points all on does. I circled around the hill and gained about 100 yards above them and ran into a monster. He was pushing 190. Of course he was a little more cagey than the others. He'd been dead if I would have been hunting instead of photo opting, but no photos. I then drove a ways up the mountain and put a limb through a sidewall. I decided to come home instead of risking another flat. Cost me the rest of the day. There was more snow already than last year total.

Up in the NE corner. I almost called to see if you wanted to go, but haven't been out at all and didn't want to waste your day if it turned out bad. It was very slow compared to normal, but only because of the clear blue day with a full moon at night. It was good to see a BIG one, but number wise I saw about as many deer as I average in an hour. I only saw three cows, and was hoping for another look at that big bull I saw last year. I couldn't get there with my truck though. The snow was too deep.

Gotcha, im heading up to whatcom county this weekend for the late blacktail hunt, hopin to smack something.

There you go chasing those red antlered buggers again. Good luck. Do you have private property that you go hunt? I should be over there salmon fishing right now. Tis the season. I think I am going to Twisp this weekend if I can arrange it. I can't get too far from home if there is any snow in the forcast. I have too many pheasant pens to keep from collapsing. You haven't been out here in awhile. You should see all of my creations. Some pheasant hunter out here is going to shoot one of my escapees, and wonder what the heck kind of mutation he has shot.

I like chasing them blacktails everynow and then. Gotta try and fill that tag, dont want tag soup, both of my uncles have a lot of timbered property around there houses so that where i hunt. theres bucks around just have to find them. Ya I need to get out there again and check out your new stuff.

Yep, thats your backyard buckblaster. and......it looks like you have been hunting in mine, or what I consider anyway. I saw your buck pics. Looked like a nice buck to me, and that snow is piling up. I'm hoping to log some miles this weekend, but we will have to see. I've got a big one up in the valley that I want to get on film. He has been in the same spot for three years (according to sheds) and I bet he is rutting somewhere near. I doubt anyone has tagged him yet. Are any big whities falling up there? I noticed a lack of them in spots where I think the black tongue thing might have taken its toll this year. What do you think?

Haven't heard about any black tongue problems this year around here. And since I've been in the Omak area alot this permit season, I don't know what kind of whitetail bucks have been taken except some of the good ones I've see at the lucky buck pics at Schwab's in Republic and Colville. There are some pushing the B&C book on the walls there but not many of that caliber.

We hunt in NE corner too, but not this year. I'm also on State F&W board and yes, blue tongue has hit Whitey hard the last two years in NE. On a trip a month ago over there I saw one Whitey and around 35 Mulies, very unusual for our little area we hunt. On the one hand it's great to see the Mulies doing well, but the abscence of Whities is almost scary. Other group we hunt with over there did see a definite 30+ Mulie over there the day before opener -hope to find him next season, he's still there.
