NV rut area 10- observations?

Hello all- I have been hunting late bow area 10 and have a rut question. For the last two weeks, I have seen several small bucks following a doe or two. These are approximately all 3 pointers, with a couple cool 20" wide forkies thrown in. I have sat and watched for a couple hours, and glassed hard but don't see any monsters lurking. I have yet to see any actual breeding- the does don't seem quite there yet. (Also, no big bands of does yet).I wanted to ask if this is a pre-rut thing, or if there are just some really lucky three pointers out there. I have only seen one nice 4 point so far, but snuck up to 50 yards of a couple 3 pointers (a little farther than I can shoot ethical). The last hunt I experienced this late was area 2, with the hunt starting early December and there were some brutes chasing does then. Since I just moved here, I'm not sure if maybe these guys come in late November as well. Thank you in advance.

sounds like pre-rut,just hope for a cold day or two and the real thing will kick in.

It may be starting- I had a great shot at a big guy this morning, but guessed the range wrong (uphill) and shot too high. Darn it! I feel pretty good to at least have gotten the chance- this is my first archery tag. Thanks & I will post if I get a nice one.

My buddy shot at a 27" 3 x 3 which was folowing a doe everywhere. After he missed his shot the buck never missed a beat and stayed on that does ace. If your not seeing big bucks then move location or hunt higher or more remote areas. I hope this helps and goodluck. fatrooster.

I agree with fatrooster, change your location and be patient. I was out Wed. and Thurs. and ran into some good bucks. Good luck.

Well, I changed tactics & location and have been getting some better opportunities. It is only a matter of time before one connects- so far, my range has been off. Too bad there is no way to get the bucks to walk exactly by where you pointed your rangefinder! I am having so much fun with this hunt- I already can't wait to put in next year. Thanks to everyone.
