Here are two different pictures of my buck that was taken on the second day of my strip hunt. I was fortunate to harvest this buck on the second day of the hunt. He was less than 30 yards broadside and pushing 5 does while keeping a little 3 point at bay. My first squeeze of the trigger resulted in a loud CLICK (did not have a bullet in the chamber), which caused all 5 does to stop dead in their tracks and look at me. After slowly chambering a 300 Mag round, the does and two bucks moved behind a pinion pine and stood there for approximately 20-30 seconds (I could have sworn that it was more like 20-30 minuets). The does slowly moved from behind the pinion pine, which caused the buck to follow behind with his nose buried into the does. With a slight movement of my head, the buck stopped dead in his tracks to look back at me, and then the report of my gun echoed through the valley. He ran approximately 60-75 yards and fell dead in his tracks.
This is my first deer and was hard for me to pass up on him, even knowing that the strip has produced some of the biggest mule deer. From the looks of it, it will be hard to harvest another buck like this. I've had two different scores one at 195 and another at 202. I would like to see what you guys would score this buck at.
