I'm kicking around some Ideas for hunting next Fall and winter. I wanted to find out about how the folks that hunted Arizona Region 36 A and B fared so far.

I have a friend who has moved back to the family ranch, and has some grazing allotments in those regions. He is not a hunter but has agreed to point me in the right direction if I come down to hunt. Here's a few Questions:

Is this area known more for Mule Deer or Coues?

How much has increased Homeland Security affected the hunting quality?

Is the Late Season Bow Hunt Over the Counter Tags? how late in the year can you purchase tags?

How about the Early season rifle hunt? OTC?

Would you recommend this unit over say, private land in 29 and 30?

How roaded is this Area?

Is The Buenos aires Area Tag a Draw? Is it a Good tag?

Thanks in advance, I'm trying to map out my $$$$ for applying This year in California, Utah, Wyoming, Nevada, and as a possible back up Arizona.

2ROCKY,
You came to the right place. I have hunted both Coues and Mule deer and there are some decent ones in these areas. I hunted the early hunt in October and opening day we saw 7 muley bucks, that is the most I have ever seen on one day, which is a good sign that the population is rising in the area. I have a couple of friends that pulled nice Coues and Muleys out of the Buenos Aires. All the rifle hunts are by drawing only. The archery season is over the counter and ohhhh boy is it fun in December and January chasing Coues and Muleys around these areas. I have pretty much grown up hunting these two units, mostly 36b and I love it out there. The over the counter deer tags can be purchased whenever you want. I am not very familiar with areas 29,30 so I can't give much of a comparison, but I hope I was a little helpful. If you have any questions or need somebody to show you around these areas just let me know. Oh if you go to www.azod.com and scroll down there is a picture of my buddy with a Muley he got on our early hunt under the heading My 36b buck.
