THATS PROBABLY A GREAT GRANDSON TO WALTER!!!

WALTER WAS A BIG SOB!!!

HE'D COME INTO LAMOILE & EAT PELLETS OFF THE FRONT PORCH OF THE PINE LODGE IN THE WINTER!!!

THE LAST I HEARD SOME LOWLIFE KILLED WALTER ON HIS WIFES TAG IN THE WRONG AREA A FEW YEARS BACK!!!

THE ONLY bobcat NOT FORGETTING THE BUCKS I'VE SEEN AT LAMOILE!!!

LAST EDITED ON Nov-28-05 AT 05:15PM (MST)[p]There is a children's book called POGONIP MAGIC by Karen Collette Wilson that has some great pictures of deer in Lamoille. It is available on Amazon.com, and also in Elko at the Western Folklife Center.

I remember coming back from Lamoille we saw about 75 Deer in an Alfalfa field along side the road. There are a lot of those pet bucks living in the creek bottoms there.

If you ever get a chance, the Pine lodge near the Turn off to Lamoille has a lot of great taxidermy from the former owner. There are some nice B-zone blacktail racks in there too.

Bessy, the next time you come to Lamoille let me know so I can meet you. I wanna know if you really look like those pictures that were circulating on this site of you with pony tails and no teeth. I promise not to bring my 4-wheeler. fatrooster.

HEY rooster

DID YOU EVER SEE WALTER???

I'M KINDA BEAT UP FOR MY AGE,KINDA LOOK LIKE THE PICTURE THAT DalllanC IS SO PROUD OF BUT I'M STILL KICKIN A LITTLE TAIL NOW & THEN!!!

THE ONLY bobcat THINKING I OUGHT TO POST A PICTURE OF DallanC!!!

Bess, I never saw Walter. I've been in the Elko area for ten years. Was he around during that time?
DallanC, I thought that was a great pic of Bess but if he really looks like that then I'd be afraid to meet him. fatrooster.

fat banty

MAYBE JUST SLIGHTLY MORE THAN 10 YEARS!!!

IF YOU'RE STILL IN THE AREA,NEXT TIME YOU GO INTO THE PINE LODGE THEY SHOULD HAVE A PICTURE OF WALTER!!!

I ALWAYS WANTED ONE LIKE WALTER FOR THE WALL BUT I'M STILL LOOKING & HUNTING,THEY'RE KINDA RARE IN THE N.E. REGION!!!

SO RARE I'VE NEVER SEEN ONE LIKE HIM HERE IN THE COVETED REGION!!!

THE ONLY bobcat THAT WOULD LIKE TO GET THAT CLOSE AGAIN,I COULDN'T QUITE PET WALTER,BUT I THINK I COULD OF ROPED HIM!!!

I actually have the story book called Pogonip Magic. A very good friend of mine that frequents this site (NVMDF) sent it as a Christmas gift for my 2 little boys last year and they love the story. My wife and I read it to them once in a while at night before they go to bed. It's a great children's book, that's for sure.

Thanks again Shon!

I used to really enjoy taking drives out to Lamoille in the winter, seeing the deer, and of course eating at the Pine Lodge. Lived in Spring Creek for 9 years. Loved living out there and miss it alot sometimes.

Isn't "Pogonip" a Shoshone word? I heard it meant "white death" and referred to the heavy frost that hangs in the air when it's in the super cold. That could be an old miner tale too though....lol

There was also a good picture of Walter hanging in an Anitiques Shop in Wells. I heard he was shot around '97. I heard the guy got a lot of flack for shooting him, not to mention cited by NDOW. I have a photo of a buck in Lamoile that a friend of mine took a photo of in 2001.......another great buck. Not as big as Walter, but definately a shooter.

fatrooster - I have a couple pictures of Walter in The Grove from the year before that "bad word" poached him. He is also hanging in the NDOW office in Elko.
