Non-resident ideas?

Three buddies and I are planning an out of state hunt next year. We were planning on putting in for Wyoming or Montana. If we don't draw we'd probably go to Idaho buying an over the counter tag. We've hunted Idaho and Montana in the past with good results. No huge bucks, but big enough to make us happy. Curious if anyone wants to give me some other ideas for an out of state hunt? We'd be rifle hunting. Not too concerned about killing 200" bucks. Prefer to see lots of deer with the possibility of seeing some good quality bucks.

I know the routine in Montana, but not a clue about Wyonming. What's the drill? Do you put in for the quality hunts after you get a tag? If someone wants to give me the basic rundown I'd appreciate it.

Shoot me an email if you like. [email protected]

Thanks in advance

Kris,

How was the Loomis hunt, I was over there fightin the fog too?

I didn't connect this year but seen a buck that would probably out do last years 173" buck. He was a deep forked 4 x 5 I closed the distance to about 75yds and it got dark. Tried again the next day and made it to about 100yds. Saw quite a few legal bucks but the fog and crunchy snow was challenging.

We started hunting the swakane unit. Seen some dandy bucks. One that stood out. I was seconds away from releasing on a nice 4 point and my leg cramped up on me. Didn't drink any water on a long hike up the mountain. I knew better than that. Never had that happen before. Now I know what everyone has been talking about in the past.

Hopefully the alkali unit treats me better come Dec 11th. I would sure like to do with out the fog on that hunt.

Bull, Wyoming has a good over the counter general season in the central part of the State -remember though, it is a CWD State. For lottery tags, I would go with an outfitter to Wallowa range in NE Oregon, or Snake Breaks Idaho.
