Rifle Hunt for Kaibab (post your Pictures-stories)

I spent 2 days on 12B. I couldn't find to many deer, the weather sure didn't help. On the evening of the first day the 18th. My brother-in-law and I spotted 9 bucks with a group of about 30 does. When I spotted this buck I decided I needed to get a better look. I snuck down to about 300 yards and watched him for about 10 minutes before I was willing to take the shot. I have been putting in for the last 12 years waiting for this tag. I used my max points for this tag. I was a little disapointed at first, but he is looking better to me everyday. He is 28 inches wide and is 7x8. I rough scored him at 197.

i would have been proud of him . i spent all 10 days of this years early season in 12b hunting hard every day and not pulling the trigger although i saw 22 bucks 263 does i was watching 3 bucks at dark last day no shooters . fun hunt though me and the wife 14 days in country weve never seen before. although i know that unit very well now. i think i recognise where your picture was taken.

Good hell man, that buck is awesome! No second thoughts about that beauty. Most guys would give their left nut for a buck like that.

I didn't mean to sound like I wasn't happy with him. I am a sucker for a buck with cheaters. But, you always hope for the monster 35 incher with 10 points per side. They are few and far between. My brother also had a tag with me and he hunted six full days hard and shot a nice heavy horned 27 inch 4-point.

Beutiful buck, if you forget the stickers he looks like he should net 180 typical on the main frame won't he? good enough for the awards book, darn sure good enough for me.

Bragabit! Thanks for Posting those Pictures. I know what you mean but dang...he sure is Nice!!!! Well keep it coming boys dont be shy if you only shot a spike!!

Beautiful Buck, no question about it. Thanks for posting the pictures and congrats to you on your success.

Great buck, I think most of us would've been thrilled to shoot a buck like that no matter how many years we'd been applying and waiting for! Congratulations! Where are all the other bucks though?

Interesting choice of backdrops for your pictures. Looks like you're right off the 1025 road on the rim around Rock or Buck Pasture canyons in the cedars. I'd like to talk to you about your hunt. Give me a PM.

Great buck, I know of several people that have hunted the area all there life that didn't do as good and you did this year. You should be real proud of your buck. The tough thing is that it will probably take you another 10-12 years before you get to hunt this unit again, which is hard to take! Again, great buck.

What a great buck!
It would not surprise me if this is the largest buck taken during the 12b late hunt!
I helped a friend who took a 30 1/2 inch wide 4X5, scores 185, we were very happy with him, it was tough to find a good buck.

congratulations!

Nice Buck, great backdrop for the pictures too. He a really nice looking deer should be great on the wall. I would love to hear more about your hunt if you would PM me.

I wouldn't have thought twice about a buck like that, I wish I could look at one like that everyday on my wall, sweet buck.

I got a 194.5 gross in 12b late rifle.31 inches wide.Missed a 250 yd. shot on a 200 + the 2nd day.Shot this one on 5 th day.I am thrilled.Only the 3rd year of applying.Unfortunately no digital pictures, however I think some of my pictures were taken off the same road as posted by bragabit.

I would like to apply with some Arizona Hunters for this unit and in trade I would be willing to let them apply with my hunting buddy and I for a New Mexico Elk hunt on the Valle Vidal. If anyone is interested please let me know. Or I appreciate help/advice on how to fill out the Arizona applications.

Thanks

Bob

I saw to bucks that were scored over 200"--just over. That was on the early hunt and the hunt SUCKED for me. Little bucks. For most people it is a GIANT road hunt. I know the one 200" buck was shot out the window. They need to close most of the roads. I told everybody if I hunted that way around home, WI, they would call me a poacher. Not at all what I expected.

This one was difinitely not shot out any window. It was guided and the guides clients shot 180 inch muzzle loader,194.5 5th day rifle (mine),225 last day rifle. The key is water. However I will agree there are plenty of road hunters.I don't know how well they do however.
