I am thinking of relocating to the Colorado Springs area this summer and I was interesting in getting some input on the area. How is crime, housing cost etc? Thanks in advance.

Crime isn't that bad, housing cost are going up, but the local hunting SUCKS. Your looking at 2 hour drive minimum to get to any decent hunting and 3+ for good hunting.
If you like to fish, well you have to drive a ways for that too.

That's funny, I am also thinking really hard about moing there also.

Droptine would you mind if I email with a question or two as well?

Grew up there. The hunting isn't as bad as COHunter makes it out. It's not out your back door though, but that is true for the front range in general.

Fort Carson has some tremendous deer if your willing to deal with the military base. Just east of town towards Limon is where all of the large eastern plains deer are coming from in Colorado. Getting permission is a different story, bow hunters generally do better on the permission front. Plenty of turkeys... the elk hunting sucks though.

The town is alright, just a big suburb really. Too conservative for my tastes but might be just right for you.

Drop me an email if you want more info.

Education - elementary or secondary

What school districts should be avoided, if any?

You dont want to teach in district #2 Thats the Gangsta district

Getting a teaching job in the Springs is pretty tough. My wife is a teacher so I know a little about the system. Lots of military wifes are teachers so there is a glut of them, even becoming a sub can be difficult. The schools will be expanding soon, because Ft. Carson will be gaining several thousand new soldiers and their families.
