Father/Son Bucks in MT

This was my son's first year hunting and he was thrilled to shoot a 4x4 muley in central Montana. I was very lucky to get drawn for a limited tag in western Montana and shot this nice 8x6 muley (counting brow tines). He grossed at around 190 non-typical and had a huge body. The biologist aged him at 6.5 years. Hope I posted these photos correctly.

I second Chef, it looks like a year for father and son teams. Hope it runs over into next year too.

Congrats to another father/son team on their hunting success this year. Thanks for posting the pictures too.

Dad and son hunting and harvesting deer together = Precious Memories. Good job!

Best Montana deer I've seen in a while, good to spend some time with the son no matter what the outcome, the deer are the bonus.

Yes, that was a 270 area tag. Now I hope my son gets the tag in the near future. Boy, wouldn't that be awesome! He was with me (along with a good friend) when I shot the buck, which made the experience even better. I think, no, I know he was more excited than I once the deer was on the ground. Pretty cool memories for sure!
Thanks for all your kind comments.

I think everyone hopes they get that tag in the future. That is one awesome area. I have heard of 3 bucks coming out of there at over 200". I have pics of one but im not sure i can post them because it was filmed for Ghost Stories. It scored around 220" from what i have heard. There was also a huge 231" buck taken out of that area by the CEO of Intel, he shot that buck and a 350 bull in the same day.

It's not like that area is a big secret anymore. I had my mind made up to wait for one of those 30 inch whoppers and I think I may have seen one earlier in the season, but he was just too far away and he didn't turn towards me or away before he left my view.
After seeing the interesting rack on the deer I shot, boy I couldn't pass him up. Sure glad I made that decision.
