Thanks for all the comments. I was hunting in the much hyped Gunninson Basin. After walking and glassing much smaller bucks for a couple of days, and dodging elk hunters I was trying to get a closer look at a buck I had seen from a distance. I came over a hill right into the lap of seven bucks. All of them had basically the same frame racks but the last one had a lot more mass and did not have the crab claw fronts the rest of them did. The strain from carrying a winter coat up and down the hills and never putting it on had gotten to me so I took the shot, and down he went. I just couldn't let that extra point go. Bass Pro Shops hasn't tried to buy the rack yet or put it on display, maybe I should have held out, but a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
