Dead bull found on monroe

I haven't heard of anyone but a guy I know couldn't find a bull on the Dutton that he hit on the archery hunt if you here of somebody finding one over there!

I know of a guy that hit a bull on the Monroe over by kosherm gaurd station if this close to where you found one let me know and i can get you in touch with them

I hit and lost my bull on the Book Cliffs, then found it 4 days later on the last day of the hunt. It sure made my day, and made for a great season. I hope you can find the hunter, I know I would be grateful if I was in his shoes.

I shot a bull south of Langdon Mt. in a burn. And lost him blood in between volyes and tuft draw. I pretty sure he ha small seven tines but you couldnt mistake his thirds they are almost as tall as his fourths. I hit him pretty far back almost in the flank. I put in for this hunt for 13 years so if you found a bull around that area that fits. Please let me know i would really aperciate it. Thanks

i know this is stupid to ask but i have to. Are you sure the bull was shot and not just wounded during a fight in the rut?

I just wanted to tell all who responded thanks. I think from this post we have found the guy who shot this bull all the details match, now he just has to do what is neccessary to recover his bull. I hope the rest of the story turns out for him, hate to see a guy lose an animal with any kind of a tag especially a limited entry tag. Thanks again and good hunting to all.

I dont have any pictures, I know the guy who found it and just thought it was worth a shot to try and locate the hunter, sorry about the non-pics. My understanding is if he can prove that he shot the bull and did not tag out he can recover the antlers.

A friend of mine and I both drew tags on Monroe and I hate to say we lost a bull, but we did. He hit a great big five point that we tracked for six hours each day for two days when the blood trail was finally lost. When we lost the trail we were almost to the top of the west side of Marysvale Canyon behind Bean Hill. The bull would be easy to claim as I said he is a really big Five point 330 to 340ish. If this is the bull you found please contact me and I can give you more info.

Hello,
I recieved a phone call this afternoon and was told by my friend that you may have found a bull elk on the monroe mtn. I was lucky enough to draw this year for the archery hunt on monroe mtn. On Sept.8th 7:00 pm I hit a bull with an arrow and we tracked him until our flashlights went dead at 11:30 that night. We got back on his blood trail the next morning and tracked him past noon on the 9th of Sept. the blood was less and less as we finley could not find any more.
I would like to speak with you and I will gladly tell you where the location of the shot was and the distance and direction the the tracking. I can tell you the very spot I hit him on his body and how big he was. I will give you other details when I speak with you. You may not or may have found the bull I hit, I want to say that I think what you have done buy putting it out on the public notice shows integrity on your part, Thank You. Many people would not think twice about it.
This is my first time on this web sight I hope this e-mail reaches you.

>WOW!!!!!! I can not believe how
>people lose their animals flipping
>arrows.

Ya! no kidding! Everybody should shoot lead, because there has never been a lost animal on the rifle hunt!

Yep and they want to increase the archery tags 10 fold. I am dumb founded this many people are looking for lost Bulls of the same mountain.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-07-09 AT 10:17PM (MST)[p]A bunch of these are replies for one guy made by a handful of others. I know for sure at least three are for him, mine included. Please don't turn this thread into a pissing match about bowhunters versus rifle, believe me the guy I asked for was and is still upset about loosing an animal and is a very experienced elk hunter.

Right........this is ONE unit, ONE hunt period, in ONE state. Extrapolate that to the entire West.... and then tell me why we need more archery tags.

Yeah, yeah, I know; "the rifle hunters do it also" arguement is about to hit, but it's BS and everybody knows it!

Let's not get our panties in a bind about bowhunting. I had a san juan ml tag this year. I talked to a Fish and Game warden down there that was investigating 5 bulls found by the ml hunters two days after the rifle hunt was over. He suspected all of the bulls had been killed during the rifle hunt. That was 5 bulls within two days of the rifle hunt ending. How many are they investigating by now.....its hunting and it happens, no matter what weapon you choose. Just so happens that the archery hunt has at least two other hunts that follow, giving people the opportunity to be out in the field to find these animals. The rifle hunt is followed by winter, so most of those animals are found by coyotes and brirds.

Sounds like they found who shot the bull. Don't want to jack this post, but I found a bull on the Wasatch Extended that was shot and had an arrow type wound (I have pics) and was wondering if anyone knows of any hunter that lost a decent bull that would like to be reunited with it. I didn't have my GPS with me, but know exactly where it is. Please PM me with details. This bull has very unique antlers and I would be happy to show the hunter who shot it where it is if they can describe the area and antlers to me in detail.

I would place my bet that every single archery hunter in the field could hit an animal and it still wouldn't touch the number of animals hit and lost by rifle hunters.

Why can't you jokers just be glad that a dissappointed hunter was able to recover his trophy of a lifetime thanks to the help of another concerned hunter that found it for him.

Congrats to all parties involved...good work.

That kind of post is what gives Bowhunters a BAD name....you are on freaking DRUGS man....

If you really think that is a true statement....you have SERIOUS ISSUES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad to hear the hunter was found. That sucks to lose an animal.

Oh and all you self righteous rifle hunters, keep your head in the sand. Walking the hills after the general season rifle elk and deer hunts is an eye opener. I have found numerous does and cows as well as bulls over the last few years. All shot by rifle hunters who never follow up on their shots unless the animal goes down.

Wounding animals happens. There are several threads going right now about rifle hunts gone bad. All we as hunters can do is our very best and follow up on our shots, always. I know it is hard to follow up on 700 yard shots but we owe it to our deer/elk that we shoot at.

I agree with you Silentstalker, I know it's tough to put forth the energy and effort to go and look for an animal you think you may not have hit but you have to do it. Last year I shot 450 yards at a bull across a canyon and went and looked until dark and again the next morning to make sure of my shot. I was pretty sure I missed but felt much better as a hunter that I follwed up to confirm that I missed. It has to be done, those who don't follow up only hurt our sport in the eyes of the people who oppose hunting.

When i had an elk hunt in arizona in 06 i had a real eye opener about how many people hit bulls and cant find them then shoot another, it was crazy, but i guess when you gotta wait 10 years for a tag then they shoot what they can i guess....cbryant
