Finally got my mount back of the buck I took last yaer. This is the only thing I can celebrate considering I shot and never found a 30" 4x4 this year, and the next day missed 2 180+ 4x4's, one over 30" the other around 28" side It's going to be a long year.

Actually I searched 3 different times over two days. At least two hours after I shot, 3 more hours that afternoon, and an hour or so the next day. What made it difficult was it had rained recently but the land was now dry with a hard crust surface. The tracks were extreme hard to find because he only broke through the hard surface about half the time. Coupled by the fact that he start bleeding less and less wnd eventaully lost the trail all together. We did follow it enough to see that he was making a very large circle. The trail ended about 2/3's of a full circle. I also had my father and brother out there searching along side me and we sure did give it our best.

Great looking mount! I shot a nice 4X4 a couple years back archery hunting and didn't find him for 2 days! 40 yard shot, he jumped at the string and I hit him in the butt!

Congrats!

Nice buck and congrats!
I don't mean to be a jack@ss, but do you plan on visiting the range a little more before next year? :)

That's an awesome buck, I love those huge bases and all the ridges on his antlers, gives him a lot of character.
