Well, it's officially over here in BC. Yesterday I had a great last day mule deer hunt. Saw 16 muleys, 8 of which were bucks. 5 of which were 4 points. 2 were in the 160 class, 2 were in the mid 170's and the biggest being a whopper typical in the high 180's. Being the last day and all, I thought I'd lower my standards and try a stalk on the big typical. He was hanging out with 2 forkeys. By the time I got in on them the Big Boy had slipped out the back door and was no where to be found. Was a great stalk though and had a blast finishing up the season eating tag soup. Was one amazing season. Saw some absolute HAWGS. I passed on a ton of bucks in pursuit of a GIANT. Must have seen 40+ 4 points or better. Passed on several that were in the 180 range and saw one TOAD that had Huge Forks, Gobs of Mass and Tons of Trash. The highlight was spending a week in Mule Deer Heaven hunting with my buddies in which we put 3 monsters on the ground. My early season adventure with my mom and dad definately was a memory builder as was my mountain goat and moose adventures.
I already can't wait until next season. My son, Cody, will be old enough to hunt. I am already planning a highcountry muley hunt for the 1st week of Sept for the Jr. Season. Hoping I can scout out a few monsters for Cody's first deer. It should be awesome.
For now, I will take some time to actually relax and then I will be hitting the hills during Christmas to start my post season scouting. Cougar season is now upon us. Been seeing a lot of cat tracks lately. Actually saw a nice lion the other day while travelling to work. Could have killed it too if I had of had a tag in my pocket. No doubt I'll be buying a tag ASAP.
Here are a few pics from the last few weeks.
