So heres the big question. i have some great bulls on my wall and want to keep elk hunting. problem is that i shot a broken 390+ bull this year and got so excited i would like the opportunity to see another 390 framed six by in my sights again next year. i cant afford a gov tag but may be able to do most any other unit. I personally feel too many large bulls were taken off the dutton this year and that the quanity of big bulls next year wont be what it was this year. i dont believe anyone anymore that says 390+ is a sure thing. what i want to know is what units u guys think could pull this bull? i dont think the juan is a good unit. i feel it has tons of bulls over 340 and very few over 375. am i wrong. i feel the pahvant has too many roads and wouldnt provide a quality hunt, but then again i thought the dutton would be isolated n provide a secluded hunt due to the lack of roads and boy was i wrong. so what are ur thoughts. im also toying around with burning my 8 arizona points on a very unpopular unit that may hold some giants on a private land hunt. nm is not even in the picture at this point because of all the drought. just curious what all u stinky haters out there think?

silly liberals, paychecks are for workers!

you should try either pennsylvania, kentucky, arkansas, texas, tennessee, california, or virginia, those units all hold great bulls!!

Hunt either Dutton again or Beaver. Both units still have giant bulls on them. Besides, you know the Dutton now and have a few local friends too! If you can't decide, buy me a Wasatch elk tag and I will settle for a small 375 class bull!

Boulder, Boulder, Boulder! When you gonna start listening to me stinky?

You know Dutton which is half the battle. Beaver is also a producer. There you go. Hunting every day should produce a very good bull as you know.

im actually kicking around several areas. nm unit 34. dutton. san juan. pahvant. swd. and the artic circle. if the nm youth hunt doesnt pan out im gonna go nm unit 34 n show everyone what a nm toad looks like lol.

Stinky, Do the Az hunt. Burn your points on the unpopular unit. Those private land hunts are amazing. PM me if you want more info. I have been on those units already this year for the Archery hunts and am headed back to the private ranch to assist another hunter this afternoon. These hunts equal the Az Indian Reservations. Truly amazing.

>You can't even apply in Utah
>again for Five years.

>You could get lucky at the
>Expo.

His tag was an auction tag of which can be purchased yearly.

Stinky you think the dutton wont produce the big bulls it did this year next year.

That is what they all said last year for your hunt. they all said the big bulls were shot out. lol

It will produce them next year if we get the rain and good snowfall. Forage at the right time of year grows the horns and makes for a good rut. If we have a dry year some cows wont go in heat it is natures way of protecting them from starving in the winter.

you want to see big bugling bulls pray for rain and cool weather

Archery is a year round commitment!!

Why not hunt one of the indian Reservations. They manage their elk for Size.
I think unit 34 there are some bulls over 350, but not lots of them.

I am seeing the smallest herd bulls up here I have ever seen this year.

X2

Lots of 5x and crab claw 6's

I have a honey whole in an any bull area, where I have seen two to three bulls during the archery that I would estimate to go around that mark. Will sale you the gps cordinates for seven G's.

Colorado OTC. If your up for the challenge! Im going to buy a landowner tag in NM 34 and I will be super happy with your 340 leftovers that you would be unwilling to shoot.

+1 on Nevada. Giant bulls are still around. Landowner tags sold at a great discount this year. Lots of good quality guides also.

Mr. stomper,

Yes you are wrong about San Juan. That unit is as good as any for whopper bulls! You just have to be willing to think outside the box and hunt somewhere other than the blues where most of the hunters go. Why, because that's where all the good roads are. Heck you could hunt the blues out of a honda civic! The san juan unit is huge and I mean HUGE! Get out there on elk ridge in some of those hell holes and you'll see what potential san juan has to offer. I think elk ridge is alot more "huntable" especially with that monstrosity of a gun you've got.

Any of the aforementioned units will do. Heres a thought. Buy a bow..lots more challenging AND rewarding. Warning though, most quivers only hold 5-6 arrows.....
