I don't normally post pics - too much braggin is a bad thing. But after seeing all these bucks I had to post a pic of my buck from Colorado this past fall - I may not get another this large. On the hunt I did have help from a great friend and couldn't have done it without him. A true friend this was, he left his second season camp in and we used all his equipment, even though he wasn't hunting - he did it all for me. His actions kind of put my faith back into people. I am proud of the buck though, he was a beautiful animal that had gotten away from several other hunters who had tried to take him. As for where we were, I have been sworn to secrecy, but I will say the area is known for big bucks but way too many tags are given out.

Well, maybe not, the photo file was too large, can someone let me know how to reduce the size of the file so I can post. Thanks.

Congrats on a beauty deer.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-29-05 AT 10:37PM (MST)[p]Nice buck!!, but I'm afraid you might just have gave your spot away...LOL

There's dudes on here that could recognize branches on a sage brush, let alone a mountain!!LOL.

Todd, Real nice buck. You should be proud of him. Thanks for sharing. Did you get him with an T/C Encore rifle? Let us know what he scores. Was Steve filming the hunt? Keep in touch and hope to see you around. Shoot me PM if you want to talk there. Later. Crazyelk

Thanks for posting. I dont like posting pics either but since i love looking at pictures i figure its only fair to post a few once in a while as well. Any picture is a good picture, and your buck is definitly worth looking at!

Thanks for the interest guys. It was a great hunt, though short. I filled out the first morning. After looking over a bunch of deer and my friend telling me to pass on a 160 buck - boy that was tough, especially hearing how bad everyones Colorado season seemed to be going this year - we found this buck in a ravine with a pile of ladies. That would be a large group of does for you non-southern speakin guys. The buck didn't hang around and headed for the far ridge. At 450 yards - I ranged the distance after the fact - he stopped to look over his shoulder and with a, "hopeful but somewhat prepared for shot," he dropped. I had hit him in the spine. Im not a long range shooter by any means but had been shooting some at 375 yards for some other hunts that I had been told may require long range shooting. The buck did require a finishing shot - which bothered me a bit, but I guess at times it happens. Anyway, I was shooting a 7 mag - my pet rifle. The buck grosses just a smidge under 190 inches and outside spread is 32 inches. I normally like to tell inside spread but it is not nearly as impressive at only 25 inches. Needless to say, I had a great hunt that I will always remember and I am thrilled to have had a chance to take such a majestic animal. Now I have to start planning for next year. And you guys know this is a hell of a bar to even get close to much less surpass, but I will give it all I have.

Todd, that is a great buck & photo. Congratulations on your success & thanks for sharing

I know exactly where that is. You ought to crop out the background before you give away a honeyhole.

Sweet buck....I'd be postin pictures of that no doubt!

Quad....Good for you Prick! Go back to your hole!

congrats on a awesome buck!!!!! great pic also, would be nice to always shoot one in a spot like that everytime!!!

Great Buck! Thanks for posting and I wouldn't worry too much about the newbies (Quadzilla) saying they know where that is. Most of them don't, and are just trying to be @$$es. But true, it would help to crop the picture or blurr the background.

Michael~All Gods creatures welcome... right next to the mashed potatoes and gravy.

I like how you are automatically a beginning hunter because you only have a handful of posts. Trust me when I say I have hunted that unit, and even been in the same area as the photo. And the original poster is right, there are a ton of hunters. Most of them are elk hunters though, but they are still good at messing up a good hunt.

Great buck Todd, sounds like you had fun. That's what it's all about. Great picture too. It's nice to see a guy sitting next to his trophy and letting the animal speak for itself rather than sitting three feet behind it, extending his arms and crouching. Nice job!

Thanks for all the comments, it makes me feel pretty good that so many hunters with much more knowledge and experience than I have commended the deer that I was fortunate enough to take. As for others figuring out the exact spot that I hunted from the pic, if so, you have already been there or nearby and you certainly don't need me to let you in on the big bucks that occasionally are taken there. But I am curious, Im truly not being sarcastic, but I would love to have a PM from anyone telling me exactly where I was at, even the unit. The reason I am requesting this is because though I am not very familiar with this area, it seems nearly impossible to tell where the area is from only the pic.

Todd, that is an awesome buck, that is why I don't mention the unit or it will become even more popular than it already is.

ToddT Great Buck and it looks like a great area too. I have no idea where you was but after looking at that Buck you was in the right place. Please let the rest of us know if any MM HUNTERS PM you with the right place. After people telling they know right where you was, I'm betting you don't get any PM's

Great looking deer in great looking country.

Has anyone sent you a PM yet? I recall a post a while ago to win a DVD or something if someone got the location of the picture right. It was a pretty unique looking area, but no one seemed to know where it was. I think it went well over 60 posts. I dont remember if anyone guessed it right after that. If someone guessed your spot from that picture, Id be quite impressed.
