Has anyone seen the buck at skis gun shop in Idaho Falls? It is huge!!! I though for sure it was a fake as nothing could grow that much bone. But I guess the B&C took it and measured it and took a sample of the antler as well to run a DNA test on it. Apparently its real. It has a 51 inch outside spread! Has this already been hashed out here in the past? I had never heard of this buck before last month. It was shot by the owner in the fall of 2003.

but a very good fake if some bafoon actually took samples for dna testing.

He told me he has sold 80 sets of replicas for 2000.00 a pop. Thats alot of dough off of a fake! The guy is a world class Bull$hitter though.

do you really believe someone killed a 433 inch mule deer and no one knows about it?? DNA results: chineese molding putty!!!

I took my daughter's moose in to warthog taxidermy in the back of Ski's 2 years ago. Chad Phillips(the taxidermist) showed me what he said was a replica of the world record non typical mulie, which he was mounting for the owner of the shop-probably the same mount. If Ski thinks you still have a nickle in your pocket, he aint done sellin'!

When I saw that same deer, I nicely asked Mr. Ski if it was real. He practically flew off the handle, cussing a swearing and asking me what kind of question was that!??? I replied that a lot of guys are able to build big antlers out of other racks and just thought this might be one of them. He continued to rant and rave about my apparent stupid question so I upped the ante and asked him if he was the fortunate hunter to have killed the buck. Red in the face by now, he said "NO, I found the "bleepin'" thing by the road in Montana." I don't know if he was being sarcastic but the converstaion ended there, as did my business at his establishment. I won't spend my money with any retailer who swears at me when nicely asked a question.

I do know this, as do most others that live in SE Idaho, the only thing world class Mr. Ski seems to own is an ability to BS. If there were a 433" B&C buck out there, every editor from Outdoor Life to Trophy Hunter would be all over it. He truly must think we are all stupid.

Someone should check out B&C "trophy watch." I think, but I'm not sure, that you need to be a member to read thier web-based information board about possible trophies that exist and what the status is on them. B&C has dispelled many a myth.

I cant believe someone would make up a story like that and try to say it came from idaho. Now if he said Colorado I might believe it.

I saw 3 or 4 that would score near that this hunting season but I was holding out for something a touch bigger.

the sign in there i thouhgt said taken in montana. there is no dought this thing is a fake. i to ask him about it and he was a real jerk. i just ask him the story and he said the sign says it all. killed in montana by ski. my ass!!! you can tell its a fake when you walk in the door. thats a first class buisness owner to acually claim that is real and that he shot it.

I actually looked ayt the B&c myth or rumor deal and saw nothing about it. Thats why I posted here. Thanks for the scoop guys. My gut said it was a fake but the guy can BS now.

western sky, you said you've seen 3 or 4 that were close to 433. and passed them up. first off their talking about a mule deer and not about an elk. and if you did see an elk that was close to 433 your crazy to pass them up.

Notice in my post that I no longer go in the front door at Ski's.
Too many episodes of verbal abuse to customers.
I asked a Question about wolves 3 years ago and was run out of the store, I go back in now and then to ruffle him up but I make my purchases elswhere.

I ASKED THE LADY THAT WORKS IN THERE ABOUT IT LAST YEAR AND SHE TOLD ME UNDER HER BREATH THAT IT IS A FAKE AND SKI IS TRYING TO GET PEOPLE INTO THE SHOP.

It is FAKE FAKE FAKE!!!!
If anybody has a copy of Trophy Hunter magizine, summer issue 2004, go to page 50. The article is called "WORLD RECORD ANTLERS". The buck that Ski has is called "DEEP TRACKS"
443 1/8 non-typical mule deer, 51" wide.
14 sold of 26 in the edition.
#15 thru #17 $1,900.00
#18 thru #20 $1,995.00
#21 and #22 $2,250.00
#23 and #24 $2,500.00
Artist Proof #1 of 2 $4,500.00
Artist Proof #2 of 2 $5,000.00
Oringinal wood sculpture on plaque $16,000.00

The artist that carved the antlers out of wood is Ralph Trethewey. He has a few more bucks that he has done, "UTAH DREAM" that is a 236 5/8" typical mule deer, "ALMOST PERFECT" that is a 239" typical whitetail, "WYOMING WONDER" that is a 251+ typical mule deer, and a non-typical whitetail that will go 400" that he is carving at the time of the artical.

WHile guys are chasing around the elusive 500" elk I am one upping them by chasing around 500" muleys.

I always want to be ahead of the pack.

2+2=12 right? Just checking my math so I know my scoring is right.

Haven't you all learned by now. Why would you ever go into Ski's unless you wanted fire him up. I have not spent a dime in his place for years because he is a "#####".

I bought a shotgun from him cause his price on the gun saved me 60 bucks over competitors.

Personally i would rather spend an extra 60 bucks with someone that you trust and treats you well.

well when your on a budget 60 buck means a lot. Besides the gun isn't made by him so Im sure all will be well.
