I don't know about everyone else...but I've been hunting south of payson, and it has been so hot, it's been frustrating. Saw some rutting activity last week, but this week does' been alone..not a lot of movement. Just curious if anyone else has been having any luck or any comments on the rut this year. Thanks

We hunted up in Unit 10 the 29th and 30th. In two days of hunting we seen two bucks with does. We also seen plenty of does with no bucks to be seen

LAST EDITED ON Jan-05-06 AT 04:41PM (MST)[p]Hunted 10 on the 16th & 17th. We saw nearly 50 doe from noon until about 5:30 but not a single buck. The movement seemed later in the day for sure.

I've heard a few reports of rutting activity down south but I haven't seen any yet. Pre-rut stuff for sure but I think its just too darn hot. I think the does' have headaches. Thats what my wife tells me when she doesn't want to rut. :) I've been watching a buck that I've been seeing well before Dec 16 so I'm kinda scared he'll take off in search of those darn girls if the rut starts. I don't see hardly any does' where I'm hunting, just bucks. I'll tell ya what I think. If we don't get a cold snap the rut will start real quietly and last a month. Well into Feb. I don't think we'll see alot of hardcore rutting going on. The bucks will wander from doe to doe checking them daily and waiting for them to come in. I don't think you'll see alot of bucks following herds of 25 does around. Unless.... Unless we get a cold snap and see some weather. Just my opinion
