Who is on the elk commitee

Haven't seen the names yet?
But if PRO is on that commitee the Hunters/people are gonna get shafted some more.
Not saying he's on it,but somebody mentioned it a few weeks ago.

we are YoungCountry, we like all kinds
of music and people, 'cause we do draw some lines'
no our hair is not orange,we don't wear chains and spikes
but we know how to have fun come Saturday night

This should be public knowledge. Maybe I will call SFW and the DWR on Tuesday to get a list. You guys are right, the people on the committee need to be good people that are honest, reliable, and truly want to do what is right. Our elk herd is one of the sportsmen's greatest success stories and for it to be ruined by shady people would be a shame.

Maybe because he's a PRO at it.

How... did I miss that post? I won't open up that can of worms but I see what you mean.

ktc,
Ya knoq, I used to like to read the stuff you had on here and thought you were a stand up guy. Not anymore! You weren't effected by the whole deal, yet you won't let it die. Stinky wants it left alone so why won't you? Stinky is the one who got "shafted", didn't want it brought on here, yet you insisted. Then you claimed you were tierd of people sending you emails and pm's. I wonder why! You were the one who kept pointing out that something happened. Let it go!
By the way, you think you and bobcatt, I mean youngcountry, can do better, why the hell don't you get off the damn computer and get on the committee instead of complaining about someone who is on it!!

LAST EDITED ON Oct-11-09 AT 12:13PM (MST)[p]Sorry, but more then just stinky were "shafted" on this deal.

I really want to know who is on the commitee, it shouldn't be a secret. It should be public information. I wanted to talk to them and give them my input.

That being said, If PRO is on the comittee then they need to be aware of his dealings. I don't trust him with money and he shouldn't be trusted on making decisions. It's a good thing that he isn't in the insurance and investing business.

Does anyone remember what Keele Johnson of the wildlife board did?

Just FYI,

The elk committee is made up of representatives from all the major sportsmens groups ie, RMEF, MDF, SFW, BOU, UBA, etc. It also has a rep from the cattlemans, Guides and outfitters, DWR, and possibly 1-2 other reps. It is up to the specific groups involved who they send to the meetings.

The question about Keele, can be researched on line through the trib or D News. An article detailing his "issues" with a local university as well as another issue can be found there.

Makes ya wonder??

PRO has alot of manin up to do around here.
He's wanted on the Elk committee for some time, maybe he can baffle the UDWR with his numbers?
You'd earn a slight bit of respect around here PRO if you'd man-up & pay your dues,we know you're reading this.

huntingjlc, you're more secluded than I thought possible, and one more thing,I wouldn't be lipping off to ktc.

"and one more thing,I wouldn't be lipping off to ktc."

Young Country,

What is that supposed to mean?

You really need to get out more because you've got way too much testosterone. Find an outlet for it: work out at the gym, go hunting, play sports.

Can't you just try to be a little bit civil? As I understand the purpose of the forum it is to have some fun, share opinions in a respectable manner, and provide information. I doubt threatening people is a part of the mission statement. Relax a little, would you?

Tree,

Thanks, that clears up some confusion. Looks like the committee is well represented. Some of the guys here I know are dedicated and have some good ideas.

jlc,

Look, I am not going to get huffy about what you said. You quoted me on a couple of things I said. that is fine, but you left out the part where I said this is a bad deal, and I hope things are made right and that people can gather themselves up, dust off, and get back to doing what they love to do.

lucaar asked a simple question. I answered it for him by providing a link. I did not want to retype it all and put it back on page one. If you guys want to get "lippy" go ahead. I am harmless and I try to like everyone.

I hate to say it jlc, but lots of people were affected by this as utfireman stated. Look at what stinky wrote, guys were not paid. stinky paid for a monster bull and Ray and Doug got him one. It did affect me because I bought and mailed maps, spent countless hours on email and the telephone, trying to help these guys out with 3 years of experience on that mountain. Ray and Doug knew nothing 10 months ago, I wanted to help them, and I REALLY WANTED TO HELP STNKY. I did it because I wanted to.

I logged in a half dozen times to reply to you over the past few days. I just did not want to go over it all again. Sorry if you think my character is questionable because of the link I gave lucaar. I wanted to answer his question, I wanted to help stinky, utfireman, and slamdunk, and last but not least I wanted to wish everyone good luck going forward on this thread and the link. I felt I was exercising good judgement and character?

Good luck elk committee, and good luck this fall jlc.

When you find out will you please tell them that we need to stop killing COWS. Our elk herd is going to be just like the deer herd in 2 or 3 more years.

Ah crap, the cat is out of the bag. Does that mean ktc will be lobbying me? haha-just ribbing you Ty. I think the committee has a diverse make-up and should come out with some subtle, non-drastic changes. Do what is best for the resource first and everything else should take care of itself. At least that is the way I look at it.

KTC-

Thanks for the link. Didn't mean to stir the pot. It's funny how riled up people get on this site. BTW that was a very cool Goat vid. I was the poor basterd that packed the meat out for ALP on his goat hunt. Sure glad his didn't take a tumble like that!

Gordy Bell?
Watch out medium sized Bulls!

LAST EDITED ON Oct-13-09 AT 01:20PM (MST)[p]Man I am more dense than I thought!!! Good to have ya back!!! Do ya want to do this now or should we start another thread!!!

THE O......

I don't know anybody on the committee, but hopefully they are not narrow minded and are willing to make good changes for a better future and not bad for a worse future. If any of the people on the committee read this thread remember this...

your vote actually counts!

Dillon

Mike,

I do trust your level-headed approach. I dont always agree with you, but I do understand your stance on things. You dont start childish name calling and dont bully people into your way of thinking. You give your opinion with solid thought. I dont see you react on emotion, which is good.

wiley on the other hand! No seriously, wiley needs to remember everyone dont bow hunt!;-)

I think we have a good mix.

I agree. Even if I dont agree with him, he leaves me with something to think about that has some real meat to it. Good luck Mike!

Gezzz guys, you're going to make me blush. Now Ty, this nice crap has to stop. You are way to onery to start paying me compliments.

I am still waiting for a lobbist to take me out to lunch at Ruby River to bend my ear... haha

ktc,
Now that I have been away from the computer for a few days, I want to apologize to you for calling you out. This probably wasn't the right place but it just had seemed to me that you have a beef with pro and you made sure everyone heard about it.
After looking back, I knew others were effected, especially Stinky with the money and his guides. They are stand up people. And good for you for sending information to those guys, I am sure they would do the same for you.

As for the elk committee, if Jake Albrecht does to the elk like he has done for the antelope on the Parker, we are screwed. We will kill all the cows, most of the bulls and the ones we don't, we will trade to Pennsylvania for a couple dozen turkeys.

You are fine jlc. You had something to say and said it. Sometimes we need to blow off some steam!

When you get a minute or two please check your pm.

Maybe people should be aware of your dealing Ut fireman...be aware how YOU "shafted" and are still shafting all the individuals who made "Oddiction" work...and maybe why it is that all the prices went up pst retail and yet we have to have a "membership" to get the cheap prices that arent anywhere close to cheap...I call it how I see it.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-15-09 AT 10:46AM (MST)[p]I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the first Elk Committee meeting and THE biggest issue will be quantity vs quality. More tags or less tags-- do you want to hunt every 3- 5 years for a "300" bull or every 10-12 years for a chance at a 350+ bull. Also, do you want to eliminate spike hunting and give out more "mature" bull tags on the non-premium units. Antlerless hunting, in my opinion on several units has been excessive and damaging and needs to be scaled way back. I believe it is easier to increase antlerless tags if herds begin to increase too much. It has been my experience that once the tag numbers are set for the next 5 year plan, big game managers in the DWR are very reluctant to decrease antlerless tags even if there is absolute evidence that a particular unit is well below management objective and may be suffering from over harvest causing poor calf recruitment rates into the population.

Nebo,

Thanks for the update and your service. It will be a tough job for you guy's. I just don't see a scenario where a person could hunt 350 bulls every 10-12 years through the current LE draw system. That part of several of the survey questions was very misleading.

It kept saying the system we have now will let a person hunt 350 bulls every 10-12 years and that is just not the case. I don't envy you but am grateful you guy's are in there getting a great job done. Keep us updated if they will allow it.

Chad
