I am looking for suggestions on diy mule deer hunt for this fall in Wyoming. I want to take my 4 sons age 16-23 on there first trip out west. There is no way I could afford to go through a guide having to flip the bill for 5 of us so I am looking to do it myself.I am somewhat familair with Wyoming having hunted with guides twice one a good experience the second not good.If anyone has any info they would like to share or possibly the name of a ranher who would let us hunt their ranch would be appreciated. I am from Wisconsin and make custom fishing rods and would make two custom rods to whoever could hook me up on a ranch I am willing to pay a reasonable trespass fee.Feel Free to email me at [email protected]

Thought I'd help another cheesehead out... Last two years I dyi'd it in Area A. Stayed in Sundance and hunted some BLM and BHNF just norht of town. Got smaller bucks both years but enjoyed the trip greatly. Not alot of muleys in the NF, lots of whitetail. Hunt around Warrens Peak in NF or BLM west of Devils tower. Three years ago I dyi to area D by Encampment. Didn't see as many deer but a lot more area and saw many elk. Had no luck finding private land without paying $500 ea. WG&F CWD checker said she was seeing large bucks coming near Lusk, about mid state near SD/NE. Not sure how much public land is there. Four years ago I went by Chadron, NE. Cheaper licenses $270 vs 160 if I remember. Perhaps you can go in the Ohgala NGL near Lusk... May be worth looking into. Good luck. Who's the Pack gonna hire?

Never heard of the Ohgala NGL but funny you mention Lusk as i have been looking that area over pretty good.As for the packers I hope they get Payton from Dallas.None of the others impress me at all .Really appreciate all your help !

Region E in Wyoming has some good areas with lots of deer and easy to hunt, easy to draw. The areas I am referring to are not trophy areas could kill a 15-25 inch buck but that's about it not very good genes. If your not looking for trophy just a good area for kids to hunt send me a pm and I will get you more info.

Heyv I'm from wisconsin too. I have hunted wyoming quite a few years and there is plenty of good hunting to be found. I would be thinking of giving your sons a unique expierence like either a high country hunt or a desert hunt. I would apply to either G or H and hope you draw and give those boys something to never forgive you for. hopefully they will treasure it the rest of their lives. I'm from west central wisconsin or North of Eau Claire 50 miles or so. If you are in that area I can give you a few more details and go over a map or two and discuss the prospects.
