If you'd like some, I can ship it out from MN. Just let me know how much you want!

what state are you in? We are having the same problem here in Az. I saw some deer yesterday while out javelina hunting and there was still no sign of rut behavior. Is it possible to have no rut this winter? That would meen no fawns in the spring and horrible hunting situation in 2-3 years.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-11-06 AT 08:21PM (MST)[p]I think its been an absolutely perfect winter, at least where I'm from in Northern NV. Lots of moisture and high snow levels. I imagine it is the same Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado. Only problem now is the mud for chasing coyotes and chukar.

Nemont,
My dad lives in Chester and they have had some moisture west of you. Good for the deer, bad for the farming. I have been watching the temps from Arizona, too. You guys must be tinder dry. Who would have thought, fire season in January.

here in calif just saw a fair size bunch of buzzards moving north ,,,, winter is about over when they head back ,,,,,

Cosa,

It depends on where you are at in Colorado. The Grand Mesa and south have had very little snow. Here in Grand Junction it has been the warmest January on record and almost no moisture. The north and Central mountains have done above average. At my parents home in Steamboat Springs there is 37" on the ground in town.

Can't fight it,

Here in Western Washington, we have had close to a month of straight rain. Hard rain at that. We would gladly trade some rain for a touch of drought.

Polarbear,

Send some of that rain to West Texas, not a drop of rain here in over 3 months. It has been one of the driest and warmest winters on record. The range fires here have made natioinal news. Something like 250-300 homes burned. Winter wheat pastures are about dead from lack of moisture.

Here in NM we are in BAD shape. We are having record highs, no trace of moisture in WEEKS, and fires in the Eastern part of the state. The drought here is severe. I am very worried about the future water supplies. ABSOLUTELY depressing!

Nemont,

We boat hunted out of Hell Creek in 2004 and the water levels were EXTREMELY low. It appears they are even worse now. The good news was the forage was absolutely excellent and the herds were in good shape. Thanks for the report

I'm with polarbear....take the rain, take it all! Every fuggin' day around here lately. Sucks!

i live in central washington and its been pretty wet over here this year, and i wouldnt have it any other way

i'm with polar bear and muleyslyr...dang 25 days in a row now.
come on. enough's enough. only one road left into the valley thats above the water and it only looks to be getting worse. a guy on a fishing forum i frequent wanted to know if we would be able to fish steelhead by sunday.
lol...

I think Eastern Wash. Is doing ALOT better than last year. We are getting a decent snow pack up high and it is mild enough that the deer/elk populations should rise next year.

More range fires again yesterday and last night. Forecast is for more warm, dry, windy weather. We may burn up all the rangeland around here before it rains.

Nemont-Dont fear we are getting pounded over here in SW Montana, some of our drainages are 150% of normal! Best snow pack in 8 years, if we get the big spring snows ole Peck will probably gain a little ground this year.

That is what I like to hear. Hopefully you guys will get 25 feet of snow and Peck will rise 25 feet.

Here in Central WA (Wenatchee) we're having a perfect winter. Lots of early snow, then some nice cold front, then some rain for the last week intermitingly (sp?) and 3" of fresh snow yesterday. Gonna be a good year. Though two days ago it sure felt like spring.

It is beyond bad in NM and AZ! I hope something breaks! Sure would suck to draw a primo tag, and have the hunt closed because of a fire etc!

looks like next season a guy will have to try and draw the Northern half of the country,(Wyo,Mt,Id,) The lower half(Az,Nm,Ut) will not have much water or feed.

What about the Book Cliffs? anyone know if that area is going to have problems or is it to early to tell? thanks

Hunindude,

The Colorado Bookcliffs behind my house are extremely dry. I assume that means the Utah bookcliffs 38 miles away are also very dry.

Thanks, my wife should have enough points to draw it but now I don't know. ofcourse the deer aren't going to die but I wonder if it will have any negetive effects such as poor horn growth or moving the deer to an area where everyone's in the same place or where you can't hunt them. I guess I better do some checking before she burns her points.
