Hey everyone. I am brand new to this site. I have enjoyed reading everyones posts and I thought I would join in. If it involves hunting stories count me in. Here is the buck I shot in Okanogan County in 2005 late archery.

Nice eye on spotting my Martin. I love my Firecat. There are so many fancy bows out but I can't find a reason to give up my old bow. I have killed 7 deer in the last 10 years with it, and one of those years I muzzleloaded. The buck this year was 52 yards and he ran 75 yards and piled up. The arrow passed all the way through. And I have never cripled one( knock on wood). I suppose some day I will have to upgrade. It will still be a Martin though.

Great looking buck! How do you hunt deer with an archery setup? Do you spot and stalk? Wait at a likely crossing? Do you need a large population of deer to get many opportunities in order to be successful. I've bowhunted in the past, but the weather was warm and animals scattered and carrying the bow seems so awkward, grass and brush kept getting caught in the cables. How did you hunt this buck?

Great deer man....welcome to MM. I agree with ridgerunner, always nice to see more WA. guys around here. Congrats on the buck!

great looking buck, i love the color of his antlers.

I included a pic of a buck i took back in 2003 late archery season when they had the entiat open as a non draw unit. sorry about the picture quality, i havent found the original yet, and i will try and get a few more pics.

Thanks for all the feedback. Typically most of my hunting is spot and stalk. I use a spotting scope and then make a plan of attack. Nice and slow is the key. When I start a stalk I have no time limits. If it gets dark, I will back off and try again. Here are some picture of a buck that was taken out of Okanogan county this year. 40 inch out side spread, 32 inside. Rough green score of 218-222 !!!!

LAST EDITED ON Jan-18-06 AT 07:40AM (MST)[p]Unbelievable Washington buck. Was that a late season archery buck or a modern firearm late season buck?
The mass is incredible.

Unbelievable buck. I cant believe we havent seen or heard of this buck yet here at monster muleys. Lets here some details like what season, new record, howd you get your hands on it. NICE BUCK.

Now thats what I'm talking about!!! the mass on that is tremendous!!! congrats to the hunter whoever he is!! lucky sob!!!

I saw that buck this year but passed on him because of the crab claw on the right side. Decent buck, just not was I was lookin' for.

Just Kidding obviously! :) One of, if not the, best lookin' buck I've seen out of this state. Would love to here how Stickslinger got a hold of it.

Crikey!! I have hunted late season archery in the Okanogan before, but never seen anything quite like THAT!! What a stud!!

Congrats to you on a great archery buck! Way to get er done. That's a pretty good bow kill average you have going. Keep it up. :)

That other buck looks like he migrated down from BC. ;) No doubt a STUD! Seems like the big un's that come out of WA always carry some good mass. There is a pic in the new Big Buck Magazine of a pair of sheds from WA that are super insaine massive. It says they score 225.

WAstickslinger, very nice muley. Congrats. I'm not sure why you'd want to upgrade that Martin. Looks to be in good shape and as evidenced by that buck, it certainly serves you well.

Congrats on the archery buck. That is an awesome Buck, lets here more about it.
WACAT

Cmon slinger, tell us more about the big boy? Is he a regular white man buck or is he off the res? HOly Cow, PIG!!!!!!!!!!!

You guessed it. It came off the Reservation. I cannot claim to have killed it. But I do own it. I got an official score at the Sportsmans Show today. 224 3/8 gross and 212 1/8 net. I am looking for someone who does good taxidermy work here in Washington if anyone has any helpful information. I want a pedistal mount done. It deserves to be done up right that's for sure.

Yes, it does deserve that! There haven't been many/any bucks that big killed in Wa in many years (at least that went public) that weren't off the res...There was one freak on here a couple years ago from around Tonasket though.

There are many good taxidermists, unfortunately, the only good ones I know off hand are in W. Washington or Montana.

Thanks for sharing that pig.

Tried an email, your info's disabled. Feel free to email or PM, 3+ good taxis in Wenatchee.
