My brothers-in-law and I have put in for a Central Utah tag for the general deer buck rifle hunt. We have hunted the last several years up city creek canyon and want to try some new areas. I am looking for some suggestions about where we can scout for the hunt this year. We have thought a the Deep Creek Mountains, Skyline Drive area, Tintic, etc. Can anyone give any suggestions? We're not necessarily looking for huge bucks, but that would be nice. Thanks.

Maple mountain, if you like to hike in or use horses. There are always a few good bucks on that mountain and a lot of decent bucks(20"-24").

It looks like some people don't like the Stansbury range. People always get nice bucks on the face of Timp.

Maple Mountain sound pretty cool. It's also close...I live in Springville. Any specific area to concentrate on? North, South, East, West? Thanks.

>Camp Williams is always good.

ktc,

Where around Camp Williams? I wouldn't want to get too close to the boundary. Thanks for the help.

Of the areas you discussed, obviously the Stansburys are a poor choice, Do a search of the deep creeks in my opinion probably a worse choice than the Stansburys and if you have car problems the folks aren't real helpful out that way, The tintics are intersting, get some maps and you'll find a buck, but that is as much as I'll say on that unit, the wasatch front is always interesting if you are willing to do the work. The oquirrhs also seem to be a popular choice amongst hunters these days, and are in reality probably a better choice than the first two choices

kd,

Don't hunt Camp Williams! It was a tongue in cheek comment. It is very good, but don't try it.

The areas around Camp can be good if you catch the right buck on the right day. This is how the General buck got whacked.

Look elsewhere away from Camp.

You're correct. I was thinking of the area east of Levan, but west of Fariview...specifically the San Pitch Mountains. Thanks for smacking me over the head.

Up Spanishfork canyon(Diamond fork area)
usulaay produces some good bucks.
If you do your homework that is.

Thanx,
