I could be wrong, would not be the first time, but if right, I believe that even if done, you take the average of the two hunters applying. This means that even if his wife has 10 points and the hunter that is dumb enough to pay this moron money has zero points than the average is 10+0=10/2=5 points. Thus the group has five points, last time I checked it is next to impossible to draw LE Utah Elk tag with five points.

Your right the group has 5 points not each person as he claims. I told him he was making false claims. His example was wife with 10 other 2 with 0. He says there will be 9 numbers wrong try 3 numbers. 10+0+0=10 divide by 3=3.3 round down to 3. He doesn't even know how the draw works. How did he even figure out how to put his wife in?

I spoke to a MM member today about this. His response? "Our sport is going to hell." Another said, "Is this what will cause bonus points to cost more?"

Limited tags are at a premium to hunt big game. The biggest argument for group applications is that people want to hunt with their sons/family. To increase a person's chance to draw, Utah needs to eliminate the group application. Before you guys skin me, here are my thoughts. If a father and son want to hunt together, why do both have to have a tag? I hunted an LE elk hunt last year and had a blast. I just did not shoot. I scouted. I camped. I rode horses. I glassed. I judged. I had strategies. I bugled. I did everything but pull the trigger.

If this guy sells the points, then he will give back the tag. Someone will get a call just before the hunt and get asked if they want her tag. She will get 5 points back. Maybe 10! I think a 14 year old will stand a better chance to draw if these non-hunters are removed from the pool through some creative thinking. We are competing for tags with people who could care less if they draw.

If solo applications are mandatory then granny will have to fend for herself. If someone else uses her points then they are poaching.

If you think this is bad. just think what would happen if they made tags transferable. I shudder at the thought. Makes a guy want to take up fishing.

quick fix to this would be if a person has 10 points and he puts in with a guy that has 2 points not to average them but to knock them down to the lesser = 2points
