Who's Buying Points in Wyoming?

I'm curious to see how many of us are just going to apply for preference points in Wyoming?

I'm still applying for everything with the point option, but I am going to start collecting points for deer and antelope for my wife and dad w/o applying for the tags.

According to the stats they should both be guaranteed to draw some of the better units in 5-10 years.

It's going to be tough for those of us who have drawn places like region G 4-5 years in a row. It looks like the wait will now be 3-5 years in the regular draw. Of course there's those poor souls that don't draw that often anyways-now they'll be guaranteed to draw eventually.

It takes a lot of money to invest in points, but when you consider the cost of conservation/landowner tags they're pretty cheap.

I sent in $60 for an elk point for me and my son. I will also buy a deer point and put in to draw an antelope.

Here is the deal putty-tat. We want and application of 3. Me, my wife, and you to apply as a group. Averaging points would put us at 13+12+10=35. Divide that by 3=11.something. Round down to 11. Should that help?

Will that guarantee the Diamond Mountain?

I almost forgot! I am buying moose, deer, antelope, and elk points Prism. Maybe we cannot get good antelope tags. I have the same idea as you. If my math is right that is $195?

In for the elk tag with the point extra$$ if not drawn.... wait to see if I draw my elk tag and then go from there on what deer to go for-- like to bow hunt both if I draw 'em........ antelope for sure....

Still iffy on the sheep and moose gig, already got both on the wall so it isn't like I 'need' them......

I wish I could get points. Residents are still at the mercy of the odds. And I'm 0 for 30 on sheep. Have not gotten a Red Desert antelope license since 1991. Never had a quality deer license - just can't draw.

I hope they get preference points soon. I'd like to go on a quality hut in my home state and can NEVER get a license. It will a lot more equitable if they get preference points for everyone.

My delima is do I put in for tough unit with 3 to 5 percent odds with the point or do I continue to put in for G or H that I might draw every 3 years?? Russ

I'm in for points in WY for all species. Cant afford the time to hunt if I actually were to draw a tag this coming year. Should draw a MT and possibly a NV tag with the points I've accumulated. Still, gotta keep the dream of a quality hunt in WY alive for the future...

Not gonna feel too bad for Wyoming residents that can hunt pretty much the entire state without having to draw-G,H,K, etc, etc....

Here's to hoping that the Wyoming F&G opens up their eyes and saves G and H before it's too late. There's too many hunters for the resource-resident and nonresident alike.

It's already on the back side of late. I have stated for years that I won't go back to that country until G&F makes some significant changes in their management scheme. They have turned what could be (and what used to be) a world-calss resource into a marginal hunt. There are better places........

Let's hope they wake up before too long. But I see noting on the horizon as of this time.

How is it possible to draw a moose tag in a couple of years (obviously I'm missing something here)? I haven't looked on the site to see what the stat's are but it seems like Moose would take more then 2 pref points to draw (since they started accumulating this year)???
