Bookcliffs Late Hunt

Just got back from the Bookcliffs, I was helping my neighbor and his wife who both had the late tag. We saw tons of elk close to three hundred head in three days of hunting. We saw plenty of bulls but the best we saw was a 6x6 that was maybe 315. My question is, is that the best you can do with that late tag or were we looking in the wrong place for the big boys. This was my first trip to the roaded area, have been to the roadless many times. We were hunting around PR spring. In the past I have hunted on the Beaver late tag and the biggest bulls were very solitary or in small groups of bulls. Just wondering if anyone has hunted this and done better?

hey jake,
the late hunt is tougher than the earlier hunts.
the average size of bulls in the book cliffs has went down some.
still some bruisers but very hard to locate on the late hunt.
the book cliffs has been over hunted for both bucks & bulls the last few years,sw will bragg everything is peachy but age class has went down hill some.
what'd you see for bucks in your travel?
did anybody harvest a bull?

We did not see any deer on top. Saw a few down low around the bottom of hay canyon. They did shoot one small 6x6 but they missed the best bull that we saw. They are still hunting I had to get back to work.
