After what seemed like an eternity to draw an elk tag, 2009 was finally my year. On the 5th day of the hunt we spotted 6 bulls from about 4 miles away and decided a couple of them needed a closer look, so off I went. After a 4 mile hike up to them I could see a rag horn bedded down, so I decided to wait them out. After about 45 minutes this bull started getting nervous and stood up to the left of the small one. I looked at him good and knew this was the one I wanted, but didn't have a clear shot. After about 5 minutes he finally walked out into the clear.

As long as you had to wait you put that time to good use, That's a dandy of a bull.

I was in area 6 with another bull tag holder. Wish I could've seen your bull in person after you got him. What do you think he scores? Congrats on a long awaited tag and bull. fatrooster.

He is 353" gross, not counting the 6 or 7" busted, but will probably net right in the 330"/335" range, but hey nets are for fish. LOL. Thanks for all the comments and yes I do smile once in a while.

Great looking bull.

For some reason when I got those Email photo's I thought it was Russ's bull.

My bad.....

congrats

Thanks for all the comments. I am very proud of this bull especially being my first elk hunt. Thanks again.

Hell that makes me remember packing my bull back to camp last year....I couldn't even sit down because the antlers and my legs were on fire more than any workout i've ever done! Congrats on the success

Sit tall in the saddle, hold your head up high, keep your eyes fixed to where the trail meets the sky...
