do any of you Canuk's recognise this deer, I first saw it on a Sask website then today saw it on a blacktail website with some one trying to pass it off as a 200" blactail....

(P.S) if Canuk is an insult, I'm sorry, just heard it some where before and thought it was a kool word...

That deer is on my website and was sent to me by Len Rosebluff. It is a big old Saskatchewan Deer. Len lives in Regina Sask, if I am not mistaken.

This buck was shot in 2004 in Saskatchewan. It grosses 228 and nets 224 4/8 non-typical. Net typical frame of 197 6/8 and 26 6/8 inches of non-typical points. G2's 18 3/8, G3's of 13 4/8 and 14 3/8 and G4'3 of 13". These are the numbers that the hunter gave to me.

Wow, what a buck. Looks like Sask. has it goin on, huge whitey's and super mulies. They don't have blacktails do they?

Im from blacktailcountry.com and sorry, this is the Her Buck, a blacktail from northern california. The only controversy is weather it's a mule deer/ blacktail cross, but it was shot within the recognized blacktail boundary, so it will go into the book as a blacktail. I dont know how you made up that it was shot in saskatchwan...

Was waiting for the btc.com guys...there is a major tiff going on that website re: that buck.
slammer for sure where ever it was taken.

anybody out there with a fancy photo program to lighten up the back round so maybe we can see if it was shot in a canyon, or in the flats of Sask...?..

I can put you in touch with the guy who shot it if you would like. He lives here in saskatchewan and ia a mule deer from Saskatchewan Canada. Here is a photo of the same guy with his Saskatchewan whitetail from 2003 as well.

PS I e-mailed Len to let him know about this hopefully he will come here and set the record straight.

Len sure knows how to hunt. Two great deer.

This "tiff" sure is gettin' good.

Thats not a blacktail, they even have guys claiming they saw it in that california zone. Someone should post this link in that forum.

If someone can tell me when the Her buck was supposedly shot I may be able to clear this whole thing up. I will still have the original e-mail I recieved from Len with the photos attached and a date on them. If it was sent to me before the her buck was shot it should clear this up for good.

The pic on their site looks like a pic of a pic of a pic.

Not as clear as the one posted here.

If it is an 05 killed buck there is absolutely no way that is the photo of it because Len sent me those photos long before that.

Saskman

the quote in the thread over there says that the buck has gone down-hill since '04. i didn't read much of it, saw that and assumed that meant whoever killed it in '05.
read the thread, it's quite entertaining.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-09-06 AT 01:23PM (MST)[p]who's buck is this ? jackelope is right about the BTC thread , said was 05 B-3 from WU properties ,,,, and yes was quite a little scuffle going on over it ,,,, soooooooooooooo who's correct ?

These photos of this buck were e-mailed to me in the fall of 2004 so there is no way in hell it was shot in 2005 in California. I should have the original e-mail at home from Len to prove it.

This deer has already been featured in one of the Hunting Magazines last year. I can't remember if it was Eastman's, Trophy Hunter or Canada's Big Buck Magazine. I do remember that the article said it was shot in Saskatchewan though. I will look through all the issues from the last two years tonight and see if I can find it.

That or the e-mail would settle the argument once and for all...
apparently according to the blacktail website, that buck is being considered for the b-c books as a blackie...

I think it's really good that we get to the bottom of this story once and for all, whatever the outcome. Keep up the good work!

It looks like this has already been hashed out but I did find the e-mail at home tonight and it was sent in early December 2004. Here is the e-mail

Saskman,
I'm over from the Blacktail Country Web Site. I thought it would help if I gave you a little background on this discussion.
Back in October a poster said he knew of a huge blacktail killed that may be a new record. Claimed his uncle was freinds with the taxidermist or something. Pretty soon a couple of other guys were posting that claimed the have first hand knowlege. After a while the side shot of Lens mulie was posted claiming that this was the Her Buck (claimed to be shot by a Hmong named Zhang Her). Some of us fell for it and some of us weren't fooled, although most of us fell for it. I think that we just wanted a record blacktail so badly that we were not as guarded as normal. Anyway, now it looks like some of the posters were the same guy, pulling a scam. I can't find the claimed taxidermist in te yellow pages or the white pages. Seems to me that if you were going to run a business, you would need a phone. Anyway, we were snookered. In our defence, if we had seen the front shot of Len and his buck, I believe nobody would have fallen for it. Keep visiting Blacktailcountry.com, we can always use another perspective.

Thanks for the info WetHunter. We hope the guys on your site will be able to bag some great blacktails this year.

Very interesting! Now I guess we know. I live close to B3 that's why I took such an interest. Good job.

If I killed a blacktail that big, I think I would try to pass it off as a muley! LOL Just kidding!
