2010 Az. Elk Lilnk

How could a state that has photo enforcement equipment every few miles on the freeways be so old school in the paper application only for hunting?

I finally saw this photo enforcement crap first hand last week on my way to New Mexico. Unbelievable. AZ should be ashamed.

The AZ G & F is not funded by tax $'s. So they manage their money a hell of alot better then the State Government. AZ is flat broke by the way. Most State G & F Departments are funded outside of taxes. All of the new computer, software & merchant accounts to process credit cards and debit cards is expensive and you need that stuff to handle online hunting apps. By the way Janet Nepolotino helped herself to $9,000,000 of the G & F's money a few years back to help with the state's budget. Too me that seems very wrong since it's not the state's money. It's the outdoorsman's money. We are the ones buying camping, hunting, fishing & boating supplys. Not to mention licenses, tags & registrations.

I assure you it is cost effective to go electronic.

I appreciate the folks as AZ G and F. I appreciate the job they do.

However, making you mail something like this and having a deadline to look it over and then another deadline to get it into them, I play this game.

But, please don't say it is to save money. That is just not correct.

Photo enforcement and closeing the new big rest areas they just built on I40.... I'll apply for an AZ elk tag even if they made us send smoke signals

The went back to paper because;

#1 A few years back, they had a lot of problems with the electronic system.

#2 The paper, and cash up front system reduces the number of weekend warriors and people who put in applications for their whole family, even non hunters. The old electronic system made for much worse odds. Lets face it, people were applying for their 95 year old grandma, then when she drew a tag, ( your tag, my tag) they would go hunting with her (wink, wink).

Charging up front with online apps is not a problem for several states.

Maybe the up front money drops a few not serious out? Not sure application numbers before and after the switch show that. But I kind of hate trusting the mail. What if the mail lost your application? It can and does happen..even certified! And it is one more chance for another reading/entry mistake. Really would be tough for a top pool nonresident hoping for a strip tag! At least with on-line you get to review and save/print your application real time.

I am all for Money up front and not a credit card money up front like Wyo.

Send in the Cashiers Check and enjoy.

ditto.

I made a mistake on my app last year and they called me.
Send mine FedEx.

I also prefer the money up front and paper apps. Most people who complain are non-residents who apply for multiple states and they don't like fronting all the money.

Believe us folks. Your odds are much better with paper apps than on-line and everybodies grandma applying.

Why does everybody try to change the rules? These are the rules and if you don't like it don't apply.

WoooHooo huntazido. I agree.

It appears some people have never hunted outside AZ and think online means no money up front. There are several states that are online and require full payment up front. Not many people want their credit card hit for grandma's NonResident license, app and tag fee.

Well, I got my 2010 non-ressy license on Monday and I picked up my Cashiers Check from the credit union on the way home last night for my Elk application.

It will be in the mail this morning on my way to the jobsite.

1 down for January appl's!

Mine down before Christmas too. Did the unit I know, archery 1 and late rifle 2. Points only on antelope because it will conflict with my WY sheep hunt:) I'll take a bit of conflict if I luck out on the bow elk...

The thing that gets me is what you people did before the online apps were even a possibility? It was not that long ago it was paper apps only, everywhere. AZ is paper apps, get over it or go hunt somewhere else.

being a non res with only 11 elk pts I like the paper apps! they really are not hard at all to fill out- I'm just glad I have a chance to be able to hunt-Hatrick

I have no issue with the paper applications except there is no way to know your application was processed at all or correctly and mistakes in hunt choices are easier than with online where only valid choices are possible.

AZ did not buy equipment to do online before but rather used outside contractor. If you think equipment is expensive, pay real people to open and process 1000's of checks for a few weeks here and there.

How are you guy's that do not live in Arizona buying your licenses. The form for buying just your non ressy license is for 2009 not 2010. Are you applying for your Hunt-permit tag at the same time or is there a place you can buy just the hunting license? Can you please let me know how you are doing it as I would like to get everything taken care of also.

Thanks alot,
Clint

HEY PLEASEDEAR.....I SENT A PERSONAL CHECK FOR MY ELK APP.(NOT A MONEY ORDER) TO ARIZONA FISH & GAME....I THINK THAT IS OK ...NO....I WILL DOUBLE CHECK THE REGS. ANYBODY KNOW .....THANKS.....YD.

Yes, a personal check is OK for all AZ applications, so long as it clears.

BTW, as far as the mail thing goes, my daughter had transcript lost in the mail so her application for graduate school was thrown out...Just got the word yesterday, and it was mailed with three weeks to spare. Good thing she did more than one school. I guess the mail in application/check thing is OK, but two more things (mail, data entry) out of your control that can go wrong.

Paper apps. are great my AZ license says I am 6'10". I am only 6' tall. (Have wrote down 6' tall everytime) Have called many times and asked for it to be changed and the last two or three years I am still 6'10". If they had an online system its an easy change. I like online apps its fool proof.
