I currently live in MT and am moving from the NW part of the state to the Bozeman area. I am contemplating a Wyoming deer tag since I will be so close and was looking at the Bighorn Mtns. I was wondering if anybody could give me info on them in regards to deer numbers and quality, and also what the mountains themselves are like (steep, heavily timbered, etc.) Any info is appreciated greatly...

well i live about 20 minutes from the bighorns. it is really open with lots of meadows. there is also lots of timber but is terribly thick. the one problem i see up there is roads. every mile there is a road. during hunting season trucks are everywhere even during archery. so there is a lot of road hunters. but there is a lot of deer up there. there is some good quality bucks up there. your best bet is to get away from the roads to where the deer hide from the roadhunters. there is some big bucks on the sherdian side but most of that is private land. if there is anything else you need to know let me know.

THE NORTH FORK HUNTER

The deer hunting in Wyoming is terrible. If I were you I'd try somewhere else.
