LAST EDITED ON Mar-20-06 AT 01:28PM (MST)[p]On Thursday, 3/15 between sometime between midnight and 5am a lowlife thief came into my yard in Santaquin UT and stole about 40 mule deer shed antlers and 2 elk shed antlers. I know I'm partly to blame for leaving them out but I just wanted to let this person know that they've messed with the wrong guy. The antlers were old, chalky and cracked and basically have little or no value if they were to be sold. To be honest with you I personally don't care much about getting the antlers back but I do care about catching the thief! I am offering a $500 Reward for any information that leads to me finding out who took them. I will be posting up flyers around here locally, sending e-mails and making phone calls to everyone I know and will spread the word around any other way that I can as well. Please do what you can to help me catch this lowlife thief. Hopefully we can help teach him a lesson and help keep him from doing it again to someone else. You can call me anytime at 801-754-0301.

Dear Antler Thief, if you are lucky enough to read this message I can only hope for your sake that you're able to return the antlers with a written apology to my 5 year old son before someone else turns you in. That's right! The antlers you stole were some of the first ones that he and I found together and they meant a lot to him! I was originally going to leave the antlers you couldn't carry outside and when my boy heard what I had planned he almost started crying for fear that you would come back and take them too. Needless to say I am no longer able to decorate my yard the way I would like to? If you return the antlers with a written (or preferably verbal apology to my boy) I will not press charges. If someone else turns you in first you've had it! Good luck?

Sincerely,

Shawn

Sorry to hear about that and I can certainly understand your anger, I would be just as angry. Don't let it get the best of you. Had something similiar happen many years ago when my kids were little and still remember their response, "Don't worry dad the times we had together were more important anyway."

That's exactly what I told my little boy when he was upset. I told him that they couldn't take away all the fun we had finding them and that there are plenty more where they came from.

I do have some pictures of a few of them but to be honest with you they pretty much just look like your average everyday 4pt deer antlers.

Most of the ones taken were the ones on the fence. Quite a few 60 inch antlers and a few 70 inchers...

Here is a picture of 1 of the 2 elk antlers that were stolen.

The one on the left in this photo was taken also. Not sure why he didn't take both. Probably had more than he could carry I guess? This elk antler is probably the most unique of any of the sheds I'd say.

Way to go with your son. Go make some more memories with him so when he's 25 or 30 he'll say dad remember when........ Also very nice I shed hunt as well and I understand what a nice bunch you had you now have room for more in the house.

Pathetic, someone from here would notice if some yahoo all the sudden showed up with that many sheds.

sean sorry too hear of your loss, I will put the word out to those who come to my shop........

I am sorry to hear of your sheds being stolen. It seems now days you cant have anything. Theres always someone eyeing up your stuff, all the time. It seems as if you leave anything out it ends up stolen. Times have changed if you have anything you consider valuable you better lock it up. I have lost 3 stereos out of my truck my cousin lost two motorcycles my brothers snapon air compressor got stolen right out of his garage and thats just the tip of the iceburg.

That's quite a nice display you had there!

I understand-- had sheds (poor ones) stolen out of my front yard back when I lived in Utah, as well. Learned my lesson.

That's what happens when you have nice things, some creep thinks they are nice too...

Take some long lag bolts and screw them into your fence, make it "inconvenient" for them to walk off...the antlers, that is.

GIVE ME BACK MY RACKS!!!!!!!!!!! x(

I hope you catch the loser. It just pisses me off when people have the gall to steal stuff like that.

Thanks for all your help with this. I know the chances of catching this person are slim to say the least but with all of your help spreading the word I know one thing. I sure wouldn't want to be in his shoes!

Bannock1877, if I catch him maybe I'll take your advice and use some long lag bolts to screw HIM into my fence, make it "inconvenient" for HIM to walk off... To be honest with you it looks pretty bare out in the yard right now so I could really use a nice ornement. :)

Man that SUCKS! Lookin at your pic makes me pissed to think some low life SCUM BAG took your sheds!

I actually was about to take a shovel and beat the %#%@# out of the local yard antler theif in my neighborhood the other day. Then the animal control showed up and packed his mangy 4 legged butt off!

Doesn't look like your thief is even worthy of being called a dog. Sorry about your loss!

WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND!
