Well after 15 years of applying I got a Pahvant Muzz tag. I was hesitant to put in for the muzz tag this year with it being later but I figured I just wanted to really draw this year.
Truth be told, I had been applying for other units for 15 years and this is the first time I applied for Pahvant. So i don't know much and the research now begins. Any of you want to help out with places to start feel to PM me. The fun begins NOW!
Anyone know what maps are best out there as far as Forest Service VS BLM? I would like maps with both topo and other good water detail if possible and I know some are better than others depending on the area.
I actually felt sick after I came to realize I drew. I called the CC company and asked for charges in the past 2 days and some middle eastern sounding guys mumbles "$795 for uta buchs"
I asked him to repeat, and he said "$795 for uta buchs"
and I asked him to spell it and as soon as he spelled UTAH BUCKS i hung up the phone and sat there dazed.

Congrats. Advice, make sure you are in good shape and don't be lazy, hit the bottoms of the canyons (there is water in the bottom of all of them). It doesn't take long to get to know the area and you will see that every single ridge has great elk on it there. If you haven't been there you will see really quick where a whole lot of the utah wildlife money has gone and appreciate a little more what is being done for our wildlife by the division. Congrats again and good luck!

I helped my dad on that hunt last year. It is a fun hunt, but very hard. Be prepared to shot out to 250 yards. We weren't and it cost us many chances at bigger 350+ bulls. The herd bulls are very shy after the archery and rifle season and they are already with their cows, so they will not leave them. You will be able to call in lots of the 300 class bulls, which is really fun. We did see three 400+ class bulls, there was not even a chance in h... to get them though. There is reason they were that big...

We passed a lot of good shots at 330 class bulls and ended taking a last minute bull that scored less. Best of luck, you will see a lot of elk, but be prepared for a harder hunt than you might have thought. Our advice is to be able to shoot to 250 yds comfortable and scout during the rifle season to locate a shooter bull. It was a waste to scout much before then, unless you need to learn the country.

I know it a lifetime type tag,I think you will find the information you will need and have a great hunt and get a good Bull.

"I have found if you go the extra mile it's Never crowded".

My bother in law had the muzzy tag three years ago. He ended up killing bull on the last day. I was the greatest elk hunt I have been on. Congrats you will have the hunt of a lifetime. Good Luck!!!

LAST EDITED ON Apr-15-10 AT 09:12AM (MST)[p]Congrats!!!
I just found out I drew the "Pahvant Early Rifle" tag. Good Luck! maybe I will see you down there and have some bulls spotted for you to take a look at.

I'm debating hunting the Norhtern end or the Southern end. Do you know where you will be? There are some pros to both ends.

congrats to all of you. good tag. Best advice I have is don't be affriad to go in deep. If you hear them bugling in a canyon just go for it.
