Lucky S.O.B. Two tags...

So, I drew an Expo tag for the South Slope of Diamond Mtn. Archery Elk. I had already put in for my general draw tags as well..
Choice #1 Wasatch LE archery
Choice # 2 Nebo LE archery
I recieved my conformation letter for my expo tag and seen that I needed to withdraw my application if I didnt want to be hit for the 280.00 charge if I "happened" to draw out in the general draw. But I thought that with 4 points my chances of drawing 2 tags in one year were pretty damn near impossible.

Yesterday I seen that I was missing 315.00 from my checking acct. and this morning it was confirmed that I drew an le tag and my Archery deer tag..

I talked to the gal at the DWR and I can turn in my expo tag and keep my general le draw or turn in my general le tag and pay another 280.00 for the expo tag..

I know the wasatch unit pretty well and know I could have the opportunity to take an awesome bull.. I dont know the SS Diamond Mtn. at all but, I also think I could take a decent bull off of this unit... I am also feeling a little greedy and thinking that being able to possibly hunt an LE unit two times in the next 2- 5 years is very appealing..

If anyone has any info on the SS Diamond Mtn. Please shoot me a pm it would be Greatly appreciated...

Congrats. I drew the expo book cliffs LE archery elk tag. I have more points than you do so I made sure my I only was in for the points this year.

This is my opinion, the expo tag doesn't burn points or make you wait five years to apply again and the Wasatch Archery Elk tag only takes around 7 points to be guaranteed a tag and a good chance before that...I say turn the Wasatch tag back and keep the expo tag. You should draw the better wasatch tag in a few more years anyways. Who knows when you will get lucky enough to get another expo tag.

Good comments. I wouldn't try to do both especially if they are both archery tags. Maybe if one was archery and one muzzle or rifle, but not both archery. Good luck.....sounds like it's your year!

Since you can't have both, keep the expo tag it's the only thing that makes sense.

The sad part is that you cannot have both. If it were me, I would hunt Diamond and turn the Wasatch back. The best part is that you will draw another tag in a few years. Enjoy it while you have it!!!!!!! Do your homework on Diamond and you will be successful!

i got two tags this year as well, all i did diffrent this year was donate my 10%

Return your wasatch tag and hunt it in 1-3 years. No sense giving back the other tag unless you dont want to hunt elk twice in 1-3 years! Good luck!

I just talked with a couple of my friends, they both separately drew the Wasatch LE Archery Elk with 5 points (including this year). With the increase of 40 archery tags to this unit, the amount of points required may be even less than 7 this year and going forward to get a tag. Go with the expo tag and draw this Wasatch tag in the next year or two.

I posted earlier, but I can not see any reason to keep the Wasatch tag, especially if it is even easier to draw in the future with the tag increase...
