I believe that the time frame has closed to get your applications for the multiple seasons, I was just wondering how many of you applied? I did for both deer and elk.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-11-06 AT 09:27AM (MST)[p]I put in for both but hope I don't draw either of them. Don't have the money this year. But next year I'd like to draw at least one, this year all I want is the points.

I put in for both but am not holding my breath on drawing. Saw in the commissioners report that through April 3rd they had sold $127K of permits. At $5.50 a pop that is over 23,000 guys. WOW!

Kirkl-it's not clear to me whether you can hunt both sides or apply for both sides...can you hunt both sides if drawn??
i did not apply this year because i'm just thinking about a muzzleloader, but if that plan is a go, then i would like to start applying next year.

Jackelope, i called the dept and asked if you can apply for both eastern and western hunts (per the faq page on their website) does that mean you can hunt the general seasons on both sides also and she said yes. she said this tag replaces the eastern/western side elk tags that you would normally purchase and allows you to hunt state wide.

Ridge, man i didnt that many people would do this. There going to make a killing on this, they have the permit fees plus the 164 bucks people have to pony up once they get drawn.

I'm in for both, does this mean we will be able to apply for special permits for say Modern first choice and archery 2nd choice?

I don't think it's correct that it allows you to hunt east and westside elk. It just allows you to hunt all the various weapon types for the general seasons applicable to your tag (i.e. if you have an eastside elk tag you could hunt the modern, muzzleloader and archery general seasons on the eastside).

Mule Deer Crazy, That's what I thought too but other people have heard different. I still don't know what to believe. I guess when somebody draws the permit it'll be more clearly explained on the actual permit.

Multiple-Season Hunting Permits & Tags

Q. What is the multiple-season hunting permit?

A. The multiple-season hunting permit allows a hunter to hunt with all three weapon types, archery, muzzleloader, and modern-firearm during the general hunting seasons for deer and/or elk.

A: Multiple season permit holders must abide by all general season rules for the hunt in progress. The permit holder must also follow all the general season rules for archery during the general archery seasons, muzzleloader during the general muzzleloader seasons, and modern firearm during the modern firearm general seasons.

(For example, if hunting during the archery deer season in GMU 242 Alta, a hunter must use archery equipment; they can harvest a three point minimum mule deer buck from Sept. 1-15 or 3-point minimum buck or antlerless mule deer from Sept. 16-30; and they must follow all archery, general season deer, and all other hunting regulations).

Q. What is the bag limit?

Has anyone called the game department and asked, I have, they said if you draw the multiple weapon elk tag, it replaces the west or east elk tag that you would normally buy and allows you to hunt both sides of the state, and you can apply for all weapon types and either side of the state for special permits.

This was from the mouth of a WDFW employee.

Maybe someone else should call and verify my story so theres no more speculation.

kirkl and anyone else who is still trying to figure this out...i just called. it is labeled a statewide tag for elk...no eastern or western wa. tag.....straight from another horse's mouth.

That confirms the info sheet I got on it from the state, you can hunt both sides for elk if you draw. If we think alot of guys applied this year, wait till that is common knowledge. Guys will do it just to be able to hunt eastside or westside regardless of weapon.

Thats the only reason I applied is cause you can hunt both sides, your right, its going to be crazy next year.least well have points.

I am in for both and I agree with clyde! It is time to draw something! Didn't know it was a state wide general tag! That is exciting!! Groundhog

Anyone hear any news yet or get a post card? Where on there site does it say how many were sold? I can't find that.
Shane

I called today and they told me that they still havent drawn yet and they won't until next monday. Immediately after they will post results on their website and will send out your post card.
I do not know how many were sold.

Clyde

Typical. They are supposed to have the results mailed out and the recipients notified on or by the 21st. I bet that the nimbers we not all that high as far as folks putting in for them. Most of the guys that I know, forgot about the deadline or thought that it was going to be at the same time as the special permit apps. This year might be our best odds of drawing one.

I figured that too, or that no one would know about it, until they mailed post cards out to everyone just before the deadline. CRAP birds.
