I have had these antlers for awhile and finally came across a cape that was big enough to fit the antler size. My wife's grandpa took this buck in the late 60's sometime in south-central Utah. I came across them in my father-in-law's basement covered in dust and buried in junk. When I pulled them out of the junk I could not believe how big they were. I got permission to take the antlers and fix them up. My uncle is a taxidermist and I think did an awesome job. I am not an official scorer, but I came up with a score of 202" with the spread being 32". I do know that it looks good hanging in my house.

Unbelievable what some people just put away in a basement or a garage! I bet you wife won't nag you about that buck being up on the wall, with it being her Gramps and all!

Nice mount, great rack!
Thanks for sharing.

By the look of that picture I would have thought those antlers would score over 202. That's a huge Typical.

Upon closer inspection, I would change the ear positions on the mount. They kind of point downward, like he was in the process of "folding them back" if that makes sense.

If one was set back, and the other extended, the rack would look even wider.

Don't bash me guys, I LOVE those antlers!! Just giving my
ever so humble opinion, and I'm always right!

Chef-
That makes total sense, didn't even think about it till you mentioned it.

He sure is a beauty!

A definite big-timer. And when they are that big, who cares what they score. It is great that you got him mounted and are displaying him. He definitely deserves it.

Nice buck and a great story! Way to bring him "back to life"! My Grandma has pictures of a big buck (looks to be a about a 185" buck) she took when she was a kid growing up in Idaho, what I wouldn't give to have that set hanging in my house.

Excellent work antlersinc. However, you have got to get that thing officially scored! Sometimes novice scorers miss a few things like measuring along the "outside edge" of each point. Just like a race track, the inside lane is shorter than the outside lane ? you might have missed an inch or two (or more). That buck could easily be in the top 15 ever taken in Utah.

Just call up the Division and they could tell you who the nearest official measurer is. Awesome!

That is a sweet lookin' buck.....I'm sure he would have loved to see it like that.

THAT THING IS A HAWG!!!! WHAT A NICE SUPRISE TO COME ACROSS AT THE IN-LAWS. I GUESS IN-LAWS ARE GOOD FOR SOMETHING.ha!ha!

I guess now you will have to keep her or the rack would go back to her family. LOL. Very nice mount.

When I think of perfect typical that is the picture I see! I found a big set of locked mulies my father-in-law had in his barn. Had to rescue them from the rodents! They are at my taxidermist but I need two capes! It's a great tribute to the hunter and the deer! Congrats!
