as most of you, i didn't draw a deer tag for montana either. has anyone here ever got one of the license that becomes available after may 15? there was a box we checked on our application for it i believe. i wonder how many of those license there usually are or if they even issue them every year? i've been told its a first-come, first-serve basis for getting them.

i talked to G&F today about it. they told me the commission has to approve the add. license first, but usually every year there is some add. licenses. some are from the big game combo and landowner sponsored. i have a 2 friends that have gotten these "additional licenses" three times between the 2 of them in the past. its a first come first serve basis from what i've been told. if it doesn't work out, guess i'll be after a leftover license for wyoming.

I have been offered deer only tags from the tags broken off from the combo tags the last two years.
It takes me about 15 minutes after the offer comes in the mail to get a cashiers check and the app. back in the mail.
And yes, I have checked the box for any left over tags on my original application.

thats good to know. i know its on a first come basis, but do you think they mail out notifications to all who applied in the original drawing-the ones that drew in it? i wonder if its another random drawing and then they send out notification to those people.

I have always checked the box that says "I want to know about any additional lisence's".
Two years ago there were 775 left over's and last year the application said there were 1700. It also said it was first come first serve. I received it on Memorial day weekend, Saturday. I ran to the bank and had the applications back in the mail that day. I have received tags both times.
Hope it works again this year.

I have also received the add license over the past two yrs by checking the box. No you dont lose your bonus points. I finally drew a license this yr so I dont have to wait by the mail box and pray the letter comes in!

That is a good question, both times I have received the letter the other guys in the group have too...so either we were all lucky or the group got drawn...???

Last year I had the letter in hand, sent the money in and assumed I would get the license...then just before the June 1 deadline I put in for the special drawings...it worked out just fine...it can be done.
