Need Help!!

I was just informed by my wife that I have to go to a family reunion on the 19th of Aug. What she doesn't realize is that is the opening day of the Utah Archery Season.

What I need help with is information. We will be in Norther Utah (Salam, Payson) area for the reunion. It doesn't start till about 11:00 or 11:30 am. and gets over at 2:00 or 3:00pm.
This still leaves me time (although very little) to hunt in the morning and evening.

I am from Southern Utah and have no Idea where to even start looking to find a place I can hunt up there.

Is there anyone that would be willing to help me out so I don't miss out on opening day (and mostly so my wife doesn't win the bet). I would be very greatful.

Thanks for any help that you can give me.

You could hunt the south side of Mt. Loafer from Payson Canyon - not too far up the canyon so you could get back in time. You will have some company but the area always holds some deer. The easiest access point is the Bennie Creek cutoff trail.

Good luck.

I appreciate the info. Not knowing the area I would hate to run into someones private property. How is this area for private property? Is there a lot of it or is Mt. Loafer pretty much open?

Anything else you could help with would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,

Jeff

Jeff.....I'm not from that area, but just to give you a ray of hope, my sister got married on opening day of deer season some years ago. (I told her I would forgive her but I would never forget, lol)

Anyway I left the wedding asap, threw on my hunting clothes and was in the brush about an hour before dark. I ended up killing one of my best bucks ever. I came straight home and had some left over wedding cake that night!

So anything is possible!

Thanks guys,

I am feeling like I am going to be able to win the bet with my wife after all. And if I can bring home a nice buck at the same time that would make it just that much sweeter.

Thanks for the help.

Any other info that anyone can give cant hurt.
