Ok, since the draw is over who's gonna be slinging arrows in
A-20(Ca.) this year?

Hey where is A-20 I hunt A zone but have not heard of A-20. Did I miss something this year if so help me out. I may try camp Roberts, have not hunting it before but may give it a try other wise I'm headed to the LP. Good luck.

I like the higher stuff. got a few friends that also drew, but not sure they are up for a back-pack trip......

how about yourself??

Hi guys,
I'll be there for the x-12 version of the hunt. Hunted it in 2000 and killed a very nice buck. I would love any info you all might have to share after the archery hunt. I scouted the area alot prior to my 2000 hunt but may not get much time to do it this year. I'll share what I know if you are interested but my info is 6 years old.

I'm having a couple of my packer friends check out the higher county while they take fishermen into the high altitude lakes. They will pretty much set my decision in stone whether to go high or not.

Magnus- lets see that buck......I hunted X12 in 1999 and 2003, did ok-- a couple 23 inch 3x3 bucks.

Sierrafool- sounds like you have it wrapped up pretty well. If you dont mind sharing some insight, my ears are open. this will be my first archery hunt................

Good luck to all this season

Mark

Hope you all find a couple of good ones they are there for sure, I'm sure your packer buddies will see a few up top to hot for them down lower and it looks to get or stay hot, I would plan on going high and be prepared for a high hunt, If it cools some and they move down then it all the better. Good luck

Hello again,
Not sure if I still have a picture around but he was a 23" wide 4x3 but quite heavy. 5 1/2 inch bases with pretty good mass all the way out. Still one of my two best bucks. He was an old guy with alot of stickery stuff around his eyeguards. I also will be backpacking in but we don't go real high. We found some nice bachelor groups right above the town of Walker and also up the Little Walker river drainage. I will most likely pass on the opener and hunt the second or third week of rifle. Good luck to you archers and I look forward to hearing about your successes.

I would'nt say I have anything wrapped up. I have my sources out checking a few areas, Its easier to have a few guys that I trust spotting deer for me. I actually called a friend yesterday and I'm paying him to scout an area on horseback for me.With gas prices being so high and me runing out of time its a bargain, plus I trust his opinion.

I used to spend a lot of time in the area and live fairly close. I seems crazy but a lot of bucks stay down real low. Even right next to the highway. All summer long. I would do some glassing down low real early before first light. Or when the thunderstorms come in the afternoons the bucks will get up to feed and you cant believe how many there are. Adam
