Transplant to Portland

Hey guys,

I relocated to the Portland area last year and I know some of the eastern parts of the Oregon. I would like to get hiking and maybe see some muleys this weekend. Any suggestions where I can head east and get a good hike in and possibly see some bucks within 2-3 hours of the city?

I didn't draw a tag again this year (7 points now), but would just like to get out for a day or two.

Head down to Maupin on the deschutes river bring your fishing pole and binos. drive down past Shears Falls on the lower access road and glass for deer and bighorn sheep. Phenomenal river for fishing and beautiful country, quite a bit of private so get some BLM maps but feel free to hike the public canyons (wear good hiking boots) and enjoy!
