Im just wondering if anyone else enjoyed the national rifle deer hunting season that opened on Mt nebo last weekend? I have drew a LE big bull tag on Mt Nebo and cant seem to even get in front of anyone on any road, trail,or Mountain. Our archery hunt is now almost as crowded as the rifle deer season.I have waited years to draw a tag and shouldnt we be by ourselves, for a couple weeks before all spike hunters and deer hunters come in.Anyone else have this problem on there limited entry hunt last weekend.I guess i have one week alone, cant wait for that.Anyone seen any big bulls on nebo they want to help me out? A frustrated hunter.

Go hunt Tuesday- Thursday and you won't have near as many people if you are in such a hurry. Your hunt doesn't end until the 17th and I would rather have the last week as LE hunters than the first week of the hunt for elk.

I do understand your pain, the same thing happens on Pahvant, Beaver, etc. Basically any open deer unit that allows spike elk hunters as well. As other have said, you will be free off most people once their season closes 10-17th. Or, get off the roads and deep into the forest, that is how I have been able to get away from all the hunters in the past.

That being said, I used to hunt Nebo area for deer, never have come accross too many elk on the unit that I would call shooters. Good luck, Nebo is a hard place to hunt elk.

I thought every archer went to southern Utah to hunt. If you want an elk hunt with less people you should wait for a rifle tag. It is harder to hunt with a rifle you know so I am sure that is why they get there own time on the hill.

elknr I drove 8 hours to scout for 3 days on my LE Bull tag and all I have to say is OMG! Lets pray that the last week looks noting like that circus. I did manage to find 2 dandy bulls. Who knows where they will be come Sept 6 when I get back. Good luck with your tag.

I have a friend that killed a 340 bull opening morning down in Jones Ranch, are you educated there at all, if not let me know and I will be happy to help you out. I have a wasatch limited entry elk as well and last weekend we seen more road hunters than anything, I to am looking forward to the last week of the hunt however we will still have the archery deer hunters to worry about. Once this moon goes away things will start shaping up. Good luck to you and once again let me know if you need aditional help.

I just got back from nebo last night.Im not in any hurry just discouraged of all the hunters out there,it seems i walk further and further just to try to get away from other hunters, these nebo hunters are the hardest deer and spike hunters i have ever seen.i figured 2-3 miles away from trails or roads would be plenty but i was wrong.I guess now days people carry a spike or cow out that far.Im not bitchin just a little discouraged.Im lookin forward to hunt last week, and talkin to guy who shot 340 opening day.

Hey shakeandbake you said it.I guess we arnt the only ones that were frustrated by the circus this weekend. That and full moon didnt leave much to see in the woods.I glassed every morn and nite and still only seen 2-3 deer a day,and 1-2 elk a day,And i allways on the wrong ridge and wrong time. Thanks, and good luck on your hunt also.
