I drew this tag for archery and was wondering if anyone has hunted it before. I know you have to walk in for finding some deer, But I was wondering where I could find the deer at.

Grizzlybear, actually there is a lot of area that you can drive into in area 7. This area is very big and runs all the way from interstate 80 up to the Idaho border. During archery season look for the deer up high where they will be seeking cooler temperatures. Glass at first light because they head for the shade early. Also the Jarbidge Wilderness area is a great place to hunt if walking in is not a problem for you. Goodluck and welcome to Monster Muleys. fatrooster.

Grizz,
How long do you plan to hunt? I have hunted 7 for a few years, during the rifle season, but my scouting trips were right before archery. Where are you coming from?
What type of hunt method are you planning? Spot and stalk? Blind? This will make a difference on what part of 7 to start.
If you are going to spot and stalk, I can PM you some good spots but they are pretty much vertical hikes. The last deer my son took from there was a typical 4x4 26" wide 18"tall.
We had to quarter and pack out.

I plan on going for a week at the begining of the season. I plan on spot and stalk. Any help wpold be appreciated. I dont mind walking in, I did that alot last year in the Rubys.

Thanks for the info Paul. If I do have anymore questions I will surelly give you a call.

You can get some pretty good maps from the Forest Service on Last Chance road. Both Topo maps and Forest Service maps. If you need help acquiring them then send me a PM and I can help you. fatrooster.
