WY Fortification Creek Unit 2

Hello All:

Any thoughts on burning my max WY points on unit 2? It looks like this is rugged country with very few hunters. I think the elk "zone" is something like 125,000 acres. Any thoughts on access, potential to take a 300" bull, etc?

I found the BLW manager that is doing all of the work concerning the natural gas drilling. I've also researched that there's little public access into the heart of this BLM country. Does anyone have any insight on the 200 elk that do live here? Bull 2 Cow ratio? The country looks incredible from google earth with jagged 4000' hills and draws. Any insight on possible landowner access/trespass fee, etc.

It sounds like you are answering your own questions. Rough country with poor access. Its also a fairly large unit to have only 200 Elk. My guess is that they are pretty spread out. The odds usually indicate the quality of the hunt. You can draw that hunt with one Pref. point in the special draw. So, it seems like the wrong unit to burn max points on. Just my .02 GOOD LUCK. Chip
