I looked online this morning and found out that my father in law and I drew this tag for mule deer from November 1-20. We have never hunted this unit before and are non residents. Does anyone have any suggestions on outfitters for this hunt? Thanks.

i drew this tag in 2005 and hunted with Fritz Meyer. if you go guided he is your guy. his clients kill more big deer than any other from what i have heard. i checked around and he was the best i could find. i shot my deer on the 2nd day at 40 yards. he is a typical 4x4 with over 40" of mass and scores 184.5". i honestly believe there are bigger deer there but i couldn't pass up such a neat buck. the gentleman that bought one of these tags at auction was coming in to hunt with Fritz right after i was done. not sure how he did though. you can pm me if you want or at the following:

I've spent some time up there during the late hunt. It's a fun hunt with quite a few bucks, but do not be dissapointed if you can't turn up anything over 180. There's a good number of 140-170 bucks, and that's what 90% of the hunters will tag out on.

If you can get access to private ground through an outfitter or a tresspass fee and afford to do it I'd recomend going for it. I've heard a lot of good things about the above outfitter. The majority of the big bucks are shot on private.

It's neat country, and a lot of fun to hunt. Keep your eyes out for wolves there's getting to be lots of them in that country!

Be prepared for some COLD hunting and like all late hunts-pray for snow!

I drew this tag 7-8 years ago and it was one of the most fun hunts I've ever had. I hunted with Wayne Suda and would recommmend him. if I ever draw again I'll hunt on my own now but the first time I don't regret going guided. you'll see lots of bighorn ( at least I did before all the wolves) and some of the most beutiful county in the world. Prism is right expect a 160-180 class buck, I took a 206 gross non typical but I got lucky.

Hunt the East Fork area primarily, lots of traffic but occassional good bucks crossing the river from the Reservation into the hayfields of the WyG&F area. Early or late in the day is good. Horse Creek can be a sleeper, depending on the weather. I would look to access behind some of the private not far out of town, or walk in to the Lower or Middle Meadows areas and hunt the back of canyons for a good one. Union Pass trees can be a good still hunt, if there is no snow or weather up high. I drew back to back tags a couple years ago and shot a nice 6 yr old mulie, then a 20" whitetail the next year. 170-180 should be fairly representative of the good mulie bucks in the area.
